Learn to Meditate

August 15th, 2010 >> Books, Spirituality

I like to meditate. It gives me peace and gets my day off to a great start. I have had many people ask “How do you meditate” in fact that was a question I asked myself when I first started out.

Many people especially those new to meditating do not realize that you can meditate anywhere and any time. I came across a nifty little book called The Meditation Bible: The Definitive Guide to Meditations for Every Purpose (… Bible)by Madonna Gauding that really emphasizes that point. This book starts out talking about what mediation is and how to prepare for it but the meat of the book contains suggested meditations for different places and for different reasons. For example there is a meditation you can do while eating, there is another you can perform while weeding the garden. There are also the more traditional meditations such as walking a labyrinth and those that concentrate on breathing or a flame.

Meditation is a relaxing way to experience your inner self, it is a step toward conscious living. It is a must for anyone seeking enlightenment in this heavy, dark physical world.

Five Ways to Prevent Worry

Posted by: Ann

July 27th, 2010 >> Energy, God, Guides, Life, Relationship, Spirituality

OK worry is bad for you. This is the general worry that freezes your mind and sends you in a panic. Some worry is helpful. Helpful worry like helpful fear is that which spurs you to action; such as a child falls in the pool and can’t swim, the fear and worry causes you to dive in after them.

No the worry I am talking about is that which limits your view; you can’t see a positive future in fact you may not see any future at all. This is the worry that stifles and prevents action. This type of worry often feeds off of itself; one worry leads to another, snowballing to the point that you give up.

How do you drag yourself out of such a place without spending a fortune on therapy? I have some suggestions.

1. Start every day by reading something positive. You can even read the same book or chapter or poem everyday. The prime requirement is that it is uplifting. No downers. Some suggested reading material is listed at the end of this article. If you are not into reading, there are many audio tapes out there with uplifting material.

2. Reaffirm you faith and belief. If you affiliate yourself with a spiritual belief, remember it. When I was going through a rough time of worry I realized I was not practicing my faith. If I truly believed what I said I believed then I had to exercise that faith. The belief that I exercised was that all things work toward good and that God would take care of me. I also believed that God wants to give you good things. When ever I start to feel down or start to worry about bills or finances I turn back to that belief and feeling that I will be taken care of, and guess what, I have been taken care of. Have hope in the future.

3. Go for a walk. The exercise will do you good, but don’t just walk, look around you. Look at the trees, the clouds, the animals and feel gratitude for each of them. In sending the gratitude you are reinitiating the energy flow that worry has choked off. Keep the energy flowing through out the day by looking up and being grateful for what ever your eyes see. Try and really feel the gratitude.

4. Talk to your spirit guides. We all have them and they really want to help but they cannot help if you don’t give them permission. Just talk to them like you would a friend you are telling your troubles to, or you could just think the conversation. Ask for their help in what is troubling you or ask for them to help you be more positive. Just having some one else to talk to can help (even if you can’t see them). You can talk to a trustworthy friend but you run the risk of that becoming a pity party or one-up-manship competition on who has the worst life. This is not the kind of thing you want to dwell on and your spirit guides will not join in your pity.

5. Be open to solutions. As soon as you start letting go of the worry and replacing it with gratitude and hope for a better future, solutions will start to come to you. You may still be in a slightly negative bent and may be tempted to automatically negate any solution that pops up but try to realize what you are doing when that happens. Pay attention to the solution and give it a legitimate look. A true solution may seem weird but as you think about it, doors will start to open to allow it to happen.

There is a way to a better, worry-free life. You can do it!

The Spirit Creates Our Lives

July 10th, 2010 >> Change, Energy, Life, Manifesting, Physical/Material, Relationship, Spirituality

I feel I need constant reassurance that God is there and cares about what is going on down here on the material plane. Sometimes I think God is only concerned with the Spiritual.

But no, the spiritual and the material are both tied together. The spiritual is important because it continues after the material is gone, after the physical is gone, after the relationships are gone. All these; physical (health), relationships, and material (wealth), are reflections of the spiritual or the ongoing soul.

Are they different aspects of the soul?

It is like a bud that cannot contain itself any longer and it burst out into a flower; that is what the spirit is doing. It bursts out into something you can sense better, something physical be it a relationship, wealth or health. Sometimes the spirit is troubled or not on the right path. I hate using the word ‘right’ as there is no true wrong or right path, it is more of not being true to whom you are (a child of God) and things we don’t like crop up in our lives. This is a form of manifesting.

The spirit is an energetic force, a vibration. This force creates feelings and emotions. These feelings can have a direct impact on our health. Many illnesses have been linked to negative emotions.

Our relationships are definitely linked to our emotions. Try to have a close relationship without any emotions! It won’t happen. You may have positive or negative emotions but you will have emotions.

For the physical, the new rage is the law of attraction and that involves feelings. You attract more of what you are feeling into your life. If you are feeling hopeful and optimistic more comes to you to give you hope and optimism. If you are feeling worried and scared more comes to you to emphasize those feeling.

We are constantly evolving personally and as a species. It can’t be helped. We are all generating things on this earth, that is why nothing ever stays the same but all is constantly changing.

Archangel Michael and Car Trouble

Posted by: Ann

June 12th, 2010 >> Guides, Life, Physical/Material, Spirituality

Once I was waiting at a stop light, when it turned green I started across. My car started rolling but there was no power. No matter how much I put my foot on the gas there was no power. I made the corner and was able to pull to the side of the road. I tried to start it and nothing happened. What to do!

I was about 4 miles from home and another 4 miles from my destination. I remembered reading that Archangel Michael was good with computers so I thought maybe he could help with the car. I said a fast prayer asking Archangel Michael to help me ‘get my car started’. Then I tried starting it again; nothing.

I decided to call my husband who was 1000 miles away on a job in another state. I knew he couldn’t do anything for me, but just hearing his voice would help me feel better. While I was talking to Paul, a work truck pulled up behind me and a man got out and approached the car. I rolled down the window (the electrical still worked), and I said good bye to Paul. The man in the truck was a mobile mechanic!

He stayed there working under the hood, trying the easiest possibility first and progressing to the more difficult. Each time we would try to start it and nothing. After changing out about 4 smaller items with no success, he finally gave the car a full blown tune up, new spark plugs and new wires! He had been working on the vehicle for 3 hours! After he put the last wire on I had this feeling of ‘OK, I’ve been here long enough, it is time to get going’ I got in the car and it started! I happily paid him for his work and got going.

OK Michael did not directly get the car going, but I believe he sent that mechanic to help me ‘get my car started’ just like I had asked. Another oddity about the incident was that I was not upset or frazzled by the delay and there was a distinct feeling that it was time to get going again after the tune up. I just knew the car would start at that point because it was just time to go.

That makes me wonder what I missed by the 3 hour delay, was this a form of protection? I will never know in this life the significance of that event, but maybe when I get home I will understand what that was all about.

The Commandments and The Law of Attraction

Posted by: Ann

June 10th, 2010 >> EFT, God, Life, Manifesting, Meridian Tapping, Physical/Material, Spirituality

As promised, today is how the commandments 4-10 relate to the law of attraction.

The rest of the commands have to do with how we treat each other. If we are truly living in abundance and in the law of attraction we will not do any of these because that would be like doing it to yourself. What goes around comes around. Be good to others and good will come to you. Let’s take a few and look closer.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy’. You don’t have to work your tail off. Take some time off and recuperate. Have faith, expect that good will come and let it come. This can also be expressed as take time for gratitude which is very important in the law of attraction.

“Honor your father and your mother”. Ok who hasn’t had a dysfunctional childhood? Congratulations, move to the next paragraph. The rest of you keep reading. I am going to use the big “F” word: Forgiveness. I know it is hard, but your mom or dad or who ever wronged you had a crappy childhood too. More than likely they did not wake up each morning thinking of ways to make your life miserable. For the few who had parents that did, remember you are grown up now and can break those ties for your own good. They don’t have to be in your life any more, I give you permission to never see them again! Thank them for what they taught you, because you did learn from them, then move on. Those lessons may not have been pleasant but they formed you. Now you know what you do not want to be like. Remember you are forgiving them, not their actions. But if you can’t bring yourself to forgive, work on the issues involved with EFT or one of the other meridian tapping methods. (Go to www.naturallyresilient.com to learn more). Lifting the weight of the issues from your shoulders will help you tremendously.

The next several are no-brainers; don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie. This falls under what you think about comes about. If you do something to someone else then that is the way you view the world. If you view the world as unfriendly that is the kind of world you will get. I have heard it said that the most important decision you will ever make is to decide what kind of a world you live in; a friendly one or an unfriendly one.

What about the last one; you shall not covet. This is beyond just wanting what they have. In the law of attraction, you can attract the same thing into your life if you want it. You do not have to take from some one else to have it, there is plenty to go around. This is beyond just wanting because I also see this as rejoicing with your neighbor for what he has accomplished. Be glad that you neighbor has figured out how to attract good things into his life. This is like love, just because you love one of your children that doesn’t mean there is less love for the other children! Rejoice and be glad and expect just as good for yourself.

These tenants are great ones to live by and can enrich anyone’s life no matter what culture they live in.

Are You Moldable or Brittle?

Posted by: Ann

June 5th, 2010 >> Change, Life, Sacrifice, Spirituality

Yesterday I wrote on the benefits of suffering. I talked briefly about the superficial benefits of suffering; the attention, the pampering, the excuse for not doing something you don’t want to do. I wanted to expand on this some.
Some people experience suffering in all its glory (it may feel more like gory at the time) and they are molded and changed by the experience. Others only seem to experience the superficial benefits of suffering and may even become bitter from the experience. Why the two different reactions?

I have head it said that there are two types of clay. One type of clay when left in the sun gets soft and moldable; the other clay will get hard and brittle. You see, hardship and suffering may not necessarily build character but it sure reveals it. An amusing example of this is to consider two golfers. How does each react on the course? One may get angry with each poor shot, blaming the course, blaming the designer, blaming the water trap, blaming his clubs. The other golfer sees the challenge the course lays out and takes the opportunity to improve his game. The second golfer may make the same poor shots the first one did but he will handle it differently. One sees it as the world is against him, the other sees it as an opportunity to experiment and learn.

Which type are you? Are you flexible and open, willing to learn? Or are you hard and brittle and stuck in your ways, seeing everything and everyone as being against you. You may not realize it, but you have a choice.

Dream Interpretation

Posted by: Ann

May 18th, 2010 >> Life, Spirituality, Truth

I am going to delve into some dream interpretation today. Do you ever have a dream that repeats or one that has the same elements as another dream you had recently? I believe your dreams are trying to tell you something.

What I have determined is that our dreams are symbolic representations of our emotions. Our emotions are trying to make themselves know through familiar objects. Within the last week I have had two dreams that had very small ‘doors’ in them. This may sound a little like Alice in the Looking Glass, but the first had a stair way up to a very small opening about the size of a small pet door. I needed to get to the other side but there was no way I was going to fit through that opening. I found myself thinking if I was younger and smaller I would be able to fit but not now. In this dream I did not go up the stairs to make sure, but I went around the wall to look for another way to where I wanted to go. I did find a way and it was more direct than the pet door would have been. The second dream involved a small 2 foot x 2 foot opening that I had to slide out of the way. If you looked directly through the opening you would see a wall in front but I crawled through, turned the corner and went around the wall to find a large room containing all kinds of educational information.

How do you interpret such a dream? There are several ways. We as humans seem to have a ‘mass consciousness’. Because of this consciousness, we can assign meanings to specific images in our dreams. Google “dream interpretation” and you will find various dream dictionaries that say pretty much the same thing for the same words. For example: Dreaming about a campus (If you have been to college you have probably had such a dream) means you need to expand your thinking or knowledge and challenge yourself mentally; To hear a drum in your dream may symbolize the rhythm of life and a need to keep a steady pace in the pursuit of your goals. The term door had many meanings depending of if the door was open, locked, to the outside, inside a revolving door. What I settled on for the best fit for my door was that it meant a new opportunity that I am feeling is unimportant (being small) or difficult to obtain.

Another method of Dream interpretation that I was taught years ago involves sitting in a chair facing an empty chair. You start out as yourself and you talk to an element in the dream as if it were sitting in the opposite chair. Ask it questions such as: how do you feel, what is your purpose, what do you have to tell me? To receive an answer, get up and switch chairs. Become the other person or object and answer the question. When through, change chairs again and ask another question. When I did this with each of my door dreams, I got different answers. One door was sad and felt insignificant the other was happy and inviting.
There are other methods. I will continue with on Thursday.

Healing with the Angels

May 16th, 2010 >> Books, Guides, Spirituality

I have often referenced a book by Doreen Virtue, PH.D. called Healing With The Angels. My usual reference to this book deals with a small chapter in the back called “Number Sequences from the Angels”. There is much more to this book than that.

The book is devoted to tell you that there are Angels and they are here to help you. They are here to help you with your love life, your career path and your family life. Doreen includes many examples of angelic intervention and, yes, dialogs with angels. Doreen talks about many of her clients and how the angels came to her or the client’s aid. Each chapter in the book contains many prayers to be used for specific issues such as “Prayer to Conceive a Baby”, “Prayer to Heal Parent-Child Relationships”, Prayer for a Friendship That is Ending” this is just a sampling from the chapter entitled “Angel Blessings for Your Family”.

Did you know that your pets have their own guardian angels? You can talk to them and ask for their help with issues. I’ve done this before. There was a time when I brought a new cat into the house. This new cat (Misty) and our existing cat (Harry) started butting heads right off the bat. It got real bad and I didn’t know what to do. I asked both cats guides to do something to bring peace between the two animals. It wasn’t long before a 3rd cat showed up at our door. He was a terror and made the ongoing fighting between the other two cats look like two kids in the back seat yelling “Mom, he touched me!” The two cats soon forgot their quarrel with a common enemy to be leary of. The terror cat soon disappeared. I can not say Harry and Misty became best friends but at lease they stopped their ongoing animosity. I will elaborate on the whole story one day in my Wednesday animal tales.

Other topics covered in the book include the afterlife, healing from grief, spiritual safety, healing past-life issues, and the Angels among us.

As a whole the book is a very fun, informative and easy read. I think I will go back and read mine once again.

Placebo Effect

Posted by: Ann

April 30th, 2010 >> Change, Energy, Life, Manifesting, Physical/Material, Spirituality

Wow! It looks like the changes in the world are occurring!

What changes you may ask? The changes the holistic community and light workers are expecting soon. These involve the ability to manifest easier, a realization that there is much more out here than the physical world and the ability to heal ourselves.

Dr. Mercola recently had a report from Wired Magazine (August 24, 2009) that stated: “From 2001 to 2006, the percentage of new products cut from development after Phase II clinical trials, when drugs are first tested against placebo, rose by 20 percent. The failure rate in more extensive Phase III trials increased by 11 percent, mainly due to surprisingly poor showings against placebo. Despite historic levels of industry investment in R&D, the US Food and Drug Administration approved only 19 first-of-their-kind remedies in 2007—the fewest since 1983—and just 24 in 2008. Half of all drugs that fail in late-stage trials drop out of the pipeline due to their inability to beat sugar pills.”

To me this is saying that we are making headway with changes in our spiritual beings.

The article continues with: “Some products that have been on the market for decades, like Prozac, are faltering in more recent follow-up tests. In many cases, these are the compounds that, in the late ’90s, made Big Pharma more profitable than Big Oil. But if these same drugs were vetted now, the FDA might not approve some of them.

Isn’t this wild! Even the older drugs when retested are not beating the sugar pills!

It’s not that the old meds are getting weaker, drug developers say. It’s as if the placebo effect is somehow getting stronger.

Maybe we are finally realizing we do have more control than we thought.

The fact that an increasing number of medications are unable to beat sugar pills has thrown the industry into crisis.”

I guess the drug companies would get pretty nervous about this report and will probably try and debunk it. I think it is great and gives me more hope for the future of mankind.

Energy Therapies

Posted by: Ann

April 15th, 2010 >> EFT, Energy, Meridian Tapping, Spirituality, Vibration

EFT or Meridian Tapping is just one form of energy therapy. There are so many things out there. I have “run meridians”, flushing them out then smoothing them back down. Then there is Reiki which my husband knows and even my 16 year old son will run energy through his hands for people. There is also TAT that was developed by Tapas Fleming. I have used this on occasion; it is helpful when someone is stuck and not sure where to go from there.

I am constantly finding new things that people are using or have developed. I learned a new one this weekend while listening to an interview with Yvonne Oswald. I will have to try it in my workshop this Saturday. I have always noted how there is a lot of truth in many of our saying we use. Yvonne mentioned one about “keep your chin up”. I know you have heard that expression. She said it is impossible to feel a negative emotion if you point your chin up. Try it yourself right now. Think of something negative, actually feel the emotion. Note where it resides in the body. Now look up. Point your chin to the ceiling. With your chin pointed up, can you still feel the emotion? Isn’t that neat!

There are so many wonders out there and so many more to be discovered. These are exciting times to be living in. I love to be connecting with spiritual and universal power through all these techniques.
