OK, I talk to my spiritual guides, I admit it. These are the spirits on the other side of the veil who are here to help you through this life. Our interaction reminds me of a game I once participated in. This activity involved groups of two. One person is blindfolded and the other is the guide. A bunch of colored balls are scattered around the floor. Each team is assigned a specific color ball to collect. The non blind folded person has to tell the blind folded partner which direction to turn, when to bend down, where the ball is for them to pickup and they also make sure their partner walks around the scattered balls so they won’t slip on one and fall down. All this is going on with several teams playing at the same time. The blind folded partner must listen carefully to hear their partner’s instructions over the other noise and then follow the instructions so they don’t run into someone or step on a ball. The guide may not touch the blind person.
This is often how I feel when I communicate with my guides. There is often noise and distractions going on and I have a hard time hearing them. Other time, I feel so distant from them and communication just doesn’t happen. But some times the line is clear and I can ask questions and get answers. Some times we have some deep conversations, other times I just whine and complain. They seem to be patient with me.
How do I know they are really there and it not just my imagination? For one thing the answers come a lot quicker than when I have to think up an answer. It is like the answer is right there as soon as I ask the question. When I answer my own questions, I have to think and mull it over a while. The answers my guides provide usually take me by surprise; they are not answers I anticipate. Another thing that makes me believe in them is the little things that I ask from them that are performed. For example I met some one who consults your spirit guides to creates special necklaces just for you. I purchases one from her then unbeknownst to her I asked my guides to include a blue stone on my necklace as I like blue and turquoise sprang to mind. But I did not want to limit what my guides would do as each stone has different properties and purposes so I told them turquoise would be nice but any blue stone would be good. When I received the necklace there was my turquoise interspersed among amethyst! The person who made the necklace later told me that there was a debate going on between using the turquoise or another blue stone and the turquoise won.
The world is so much more interesting when you realize there is more depth to life than what we see here on this plane. Just remember you have help. You just need to ask.
What do You Expect From Life?

Often people expect nothing and that is just what they get, nothing. When you say your affirmations and that little nagging voice comes up and says ‘yes, but….’ That means you really expect nothing so you get nothing and your perception is that the affirmation doesn’t work. But the affirmation is working perfectly…. You are getting nothing! It also works that when you expect little you get little.
How to overcome this? Live expectantly. Be ready to receive. Something is always happening behind the scenes, you are not always able to see what is going on. So expect great things. Don’t live your life thinking “I won’t get my hopes up so I won’t be disappointed”. Thinking like that will cause your hopes to be dashed faster than anything. Live your life expecting great gifts from God, the Universe, or whatever you call your higher power. When you live expectantly, the future looks brighter; you are in an excited, anticipatory state. Living in this state will cause the universe to accommodate, creating more reasons to have this exited, anticipatory state.
So what do you expect?
Behind the Scene Work

Yesterday I talked about coincidences as being the result of your mind shoving the more pertinent info into your consciousness.
Could there be something more involved? Could coincidences be the result of a spiritual or behind the scenes work?
Just so you know, I do believe in a spiritual life. I talk to my guides and angels and yes I do hear them talk back to me. It is all in my head, I don’t hear an actual physical voice so some may say it is just another aspect of me talking and maybe it is. We are all connected and may be more intimately connected than we realize on the physical surface plane.
I suggest that you do an experiment. Think about two different problems you are having for which you would like a solution. Talk to your guides, you can do this out loud or in your head. Tell them that you appreciate them being there and willing to help you then tell them that you would like help in solving a problem. Then tell them about one of the problems you want help with. Then tell them you have a second problem but you want them to stay away from that particular problem until you specifically ask for help on it. Then note which problem is solved first. You must also note exactly how you asked for help with the first one. How you word it is important because the solution will appear and you will invariably say that wasn’t what I wanted but if you go back and look at your words the solution will fit exactly. It is almost like they are showing their sense of humor by solving it in a way that was not even remotely anticipated.
Good luck and let me know what happens.
Our lives are full of symbols.
Dreams contain symbols of our emotional state and sometimes provide information of what is going to happen. If you learn to interpret the symbols, you can have helpful information that can direct your waking actions.
Our aches and pains are often symbols. We tend to get more aches and pains as we age because we ignore the symbols as we receive them. These symbols tell us of things we need to take care of. Our society has gotten out of touch with the symbolic life. When we ignore them, they have to get louder and louder to try and get our attention. Sometimes it takes a major, life threatening illness before we will pay attention and ‘read’ the symbol. I have heard many people exclaim that they would not go through a major calamity in their life again for a million dollars but then again they would not take a million dollars for that experience. So if you are going through a major life challenge, look for the meaning behind the event.
Not all symbols come to us in major life events. Most are just day to day things. Look at everything with new eyes. That tree in the front yard – what does it mean? It is in your life for a reason; a deep personal reason. Maybe it is struggling and not in good shape – that could mean you are struggling with life right now. Maybe it is flourishing – that could be an indication that your life may be very full and satisfying. Reading the symbols around us can be very enlightening.
For those who are less esoteric, let me assure you that you use symbols everyday. Think about words. What are you doing right now? You are interpreting symbols that convey meaning. These marking on the screen have a message for you and when you interpret them (read the words) you get a picture of the emotion and the idea of what is being conveyed.
Try and be more aware of the symbols around you this week.
Stay Positive – Ask for Help

Why do we grumble in the midst of our prosperity?
We have been doing this for thousands of years. Exodus 15-17 tells of the Israelites grumbling when they were getting low on supplies and when they could not see where the water and food would be coming from. I do the same thing except instead of grumbling I panic.
Maybe this is a human tendency. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, food is right up there with oxygen, water and constant body temperature. These physiological needs must be met before you can move to the next level of needs which concerns safety.
When our basic needs are threatened we panic. If we are in a position where we have some but (we think) not enough, we grumble. Back to the Israelite story; God was taking care of them. Water was provided in a miraculous way and then later they forgot that and started living in scarcity mindset and started grumbling again. When manna was provided there were still some who did not trust that it would come every day and tried to save for the next day but it rotted.
I keep going through this same trust/distrust in my life. Last year, I did an experiment. All year I noted my emotional outlook: was I being positive or slipping into a scarcity mentality. What was interesting was that I would sometimes slip into the scarcity, panic mode, when everything was OK and the physical would follow the mental/emotional state, money would start to get tight and I would be barely scraping by, having to live on credit cards. I would then give myself a talking to and change my outlook. With the more positive outlook, even when there was no reason for it, the physical world around me started changing. The flow of money would open up and my needs would be met.
In Late September I decided to have a talk with my Guides and Angels. I said I wanted proof that I would be taken care of and everything would be OK. The following week, about October 7, I received a check for $115.12 from a credit card company saying they had charged too much interest. That was strange, have you ever heard of a card company doing that? Then a couple of weeks later, about October 16, I received another check from this same company saying they had not given me all the rebate money I was entitled to. This was weird.
I decided to have another talk with my guides. I told them a hundred dollars here and two hundred there was all well and good but it wasn’t going to pay the rent. I needed thousands.
Well on October 26, our local paper printed a supplement listing people for whom the state was holding unclaimed money. My husbands name was on it! Monday morning we found that we had $3692.16 available to us from some property we had sold 12 years before!
Now whenever I start to feel nervous, I remember that incident and decide to trust the process. There is help on the other side if we will just ask and trust.
A Cry from the Womb – Book Review Sunday

A Cry from the Womb: Healing the Heart of the World: A Guide to Healing and Helping Souls Return to the Light After Sudden Death, Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Abortion by Gwendolyn Awen Jones, is a great book for those (including men) who have lost a child through sudden death, miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion. Gwen is totally nonjudgmental but is writing from her heart in an effort to provide hope and help to those involved. This is a very private matter and Gwen handles it with in-depth understanding having had losses herself.
I know the author and knew about one of her losses but had no idea about the other traumatic events. But in this book she opens up and tells of all the anguish and heart ache that she has held hidden inside.
Gwen is a medical intuitive, spiritual teacher and healer. In her work she strives to bring peace and healing and in this book she strives for the same thing. She is very concerned with the Soul: the soul of the child involved and the soul of the adults affected.
If you are in pain and hurting due to the loss of a child, this book can be a great comfort.
Remember the Simon and Garfunkel song “The Sounds of Silence”? They approached the ‘sounds’ of silence. I am going deeper. What about the emotions behind silence. How do you handle silence?
I have known people who seemed uncomfortable in silence. When I was little, every time I visited one of my friends, their TV was always on. No one was listening to it or even in the same room as it, but it was always on. Then there were the times I went some where with my dad and there would be total silence in the car. Neither of us spoke, but I was totally comfortable.
Some people just can’t deal with silence. They have to have noise to invade their mind. Maybe they are afraid of what their mind will come up with. I have heard some one say that they were afraid of getting lost in their thoughts and not be able to find their way out. Is that for real? What kind of a person are you? Are you totally comfortable in silence? Or do you have to speak to break the silence?
At my church we have a silent prayer time which only last about 30 seconds. I get the feeling that some people are uncomfortable with that short 30 seconds, while others like me would like to have a longer time. Gee, 30 seconds is barely enough time to quiet my mind. I have heard that Norman Vincent Peale had a 5 minute silent prayer time in his Sunday sermons. That is enough time to get centered and actually commune with a higher being.
Just being silent is not enough because even when we are silent, our mind is noisy. Meditation is learning to quiet the mind. I love to meditate. Meditation has a calming effect to prepare me for the hectic day to come. Meditation gets me in touch with my inner self. Give it a try for yourself, you may get to know yourself better.
The Flowing River of Life

I have heard so many connections between rivers, the spirit and energy lately that I wanted to write something about it.
In dream symbology, flowing water symbolizes the spirit moving.
In the Bible Jesus spoke of living water several times and in John 7:39 it says “When he said ‘living water,’ he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him…” (New Living Translation). (I am not going to get into what ‘believing in him’ means that is a whole different theological treatise.)
My Feb. 18, 2010 blog speaks of the energy in all things that ‘flows’ through all things connecting all things.
All of these are talking about the same thing: the energy of life, the life force.
To be in your true spirit, your true self, the energy of life must be flowing through you.
You may think you have the energy of life in you but most of us are only living partial lives. We are stagnate ponds not fresh flowing rivers. As a stagnate pond we have no outlet and little inlet. We have the possibility of drying up or as I like to say “having been dead before you die”.
When the river of life flows through you, your energy level is high and you are free to be all you can be. With all that energy behind you nothing can hold you back and you can manifest abundance.
I have been practicing feeling the flow and I found that I am usually constricted or stagnant. But I am working on it and I know that the more open state will eventually become my normal state. Let the energy come!
How Connected Are We?

February 26th, 2010 >> Life, Manifesting, Relationship, Spirituality
I have heard the idea that each of us has created our reality. Everything and everyone around us is here because we have “manifested” it. This idea is one of the main premises in Busting Loose From the Money Game: Mind-Blowing Strategies for Changing the Rules of a Game You Can’t Win by Robert Scheinfeld. Last year I took this at its word and acted this out. This was not good. I ended up neglecting some people in my life to the point that they were feeling abandoned. I had left out an important addition to that idea.
Let’s say you are creating all that shows up in your life but let’s carry this idea farther. If everything around you is your creation it is a part of you. How do you want to be treated, with honor and kindness? You must treat all people the way you want to be treated. If you want to be neglected then treat others with neglect but if you want to be treated with attention and honor, treat those around you with attention and honor. In short, if you neglect something or someone you are neglecting yourself.
This train of thought leads me deeper. If I give someone something am I giving to myself? If I am giving to myself, I have not really lost anything, have I? What if I buy something from some one, am I really buying from myself? If I am doing that to myself, will it come back to me? How far can you carry this? But if this is true, there should not be any debt, but there is.
I guess I have not jumped on this bandwagon yet. Maybe I have not evolved far enough for this.
I do believe we are all connected but I also believe we are individuals trying to live together.
The Advancement of the Human Race

February 23rd, 2010 >> Change, Life, Reincarnation, Spirituality
I have been thinking about the spiritual growth of humanity. Are we really growing and improving? After watching the evening news I am inclined to say not.
However the news shows what is unusual so if something shows up on the news that means it is out of the ordinary or does not normally happen. In other words, since the news always seems to show the bad of humanity that implies that the good is normal and commonplace. This gives me hope, maybe we are truly growing and improving.
I also have another way of looking at humanity through the ages. I believe in reincarnation. Each of us has lived multiple lives. There are certain experiences we all have gone through or will go through. These experiences lead to the growth of the soul and ultimately the growth of humanity. Such experiences are:
• We have all died in war
• We all are attacked
• We have all been attackers
• We have starved to death
• We have abused power
• We have all been abused
If we had no conflict or hardships we would be comfortable where we are and would have no reason to change or grow. Comfort means the status quo and there is no change. When we are challenged we have to develop new reasons, new beliefs and new ideologies so we can once more be comfortable in mind and then comfortable in body. Sometimes we have to go through a traumatic event in a series of lives. Each life is trying to work it out, or come to terms with what is happening. When we finally decide how to deal with it and can incorporate it into our soul we can move on to something else.
Each of these major events in our lives has left an imprint on our soul. We have changed, we have grown. This can only lead to a change in humanity as a whole. We can even look back through recorded history and see how our ideas and beliefs have changed and how we have grown. I have hope that soon we all will have experienced war enough to decide we don’t need it any more.
