Moments Of Grace

February 21st, 2010 >> Books, God, Life, Physical/Material, Spirituality

It’s book review Sunday!

This is a book I have read several times. Every once in a while I need a pick-me-up and this book is the ticket. Neale Donald Walsch the author of Conversations with God did a great job with Moments of Grace: When God Touches Our Lives Unexpectedly
. Actually he did very little writing in this book, he is relaying stories others sent him about their personal experiences.
In Neale’s own words “This book is about moments in our lives when God steps in and gives us a great big hug….. These are stories about real life and real people. Folks sent them to me. Because I asked them to. I wanted to know if my experience of God was really so different from everyone else’s, or if, as I suspected, we all are having pretty much the same experience, but I’m the only one who’s talking about it. Or one of the very few.”

I have read stories out of this book to people who come to me questioning the meaning of life and those who wonder if miracles happen. I also tell them a few of my own stories. Yes there is purpose to all this! Yes there is a guiding light or energy out there!

If you don’t want to buy it, at least check it out of the library. But I bet you will want to own it after you read it.

Paradox In The Garden

February 13th, 2010 >> EFT, Energy, God, Manifesting, Meridian Tapping, Relationship, Spirituality

I was thinking about the Garden of Eden story today. There are two points I wish to make.

The 1st is a rather simple statement. If you have no knowledge of good or evil, then you would not understand that eating what you are told not to eat is evil and not good?

The 2nd is viewing the whole story as allegorical. I got this idea from my dear husband.

The Garden can be viewed as Abundance. Adam and Eve were living in abundance, they had everything they could want or need. The eating of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil is the awakening of the idea of scarcity into their lives. If you live with the mindset of scarcity you can no longer live in abundance. The two cannot coexist in the same mind. You are either living out of scarcity or living out of abundance. When they shifted to scarcity, they saw they were lacking, they hid because they were naked (lacking). So they had to leave the Garden – abundance.

God is abundance, God is the energy of the universe and so God is all things. When Adam and Eve experienced scarcity they also experienced a loss of the intimate relationship with God because abundance and scarcity cannot coexist.

This Garden of Eden is actually a mindset. We can go (and are going) back there but we must first release this concept of scarcity so we are free to embrace the abundance. It is very hard to release scarcity. We see it every time we pay bills at the beginning of the month. We see it every time we go to the grocery store and see a limited amount of cans on the shelves. We experience scarcity every time we turn on the TV news. As long as we see scarcity we are still in scarcity.

How can we overcome this mindset?

Express gratitude in all you see and experience. Be grateful even for the “problems” in your life, as you don’t know what benefits they will provide you.

Use affirmations about the future but phrase it in current terms such as “I have plenty to share”.

See abundance in your life where you have it. Is it friends, is it love, is it money, is it time? What ever it is, rejoice in it.

Use EFT or Meridian Tapping to help you get rid of the negative emotional obstacles in your life. If you don’t know about this check into www.naturallyresilient.com

Do Not Be Afraid

Posted by: Ann

January 29th, 2010 >> God, Guides, Manifesting, Spirituality

A child who wakes up from a nightmare is often comforted by their mom with the words “Don’t be afraid”.

There are many passages in the Bible that start with “Do not be afraid”. Usually when and angel appears or God’s voice is heard.

Those words are meant to be comforting and calming. They mean that no intentional harm is coming to you.

Using reverse logic, does this mean that we should be afraid if we happen to see an angel and they don’t say, “do not be afraid”? I don’t really think of angels as being something to fear.

I use to want to see a ghost, but then I decided I would probably be scared out of my wits if I did. I have never heard of a ghost saying, “don’t be afraid”. So I decided I would rather see an angel. Then I started realizing that there are many angels among us. Any one who gives of themselves or their resources to help some one in need is an angel in my book. There are angels all around us. I can even be an angel to some one else.

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed help and some one appeared to help you? You had an angel moment.

Several years ago, my car died as I was making a turn so I pulled to the side of the road and tried to start it again. Nothing happened. I was trying to decide what to do. I asked Archangel Michael to help out as I had read he was good with computers. But as I turned the key again nothing happened. I called my husband who was out of State, as if he could do anything at the time, just the comforting “don’t be afraid” voice of his was helpful. But while I was on the phone, someone pulled up behind me and asked if I needed help. It was a mobile mechanic!

He worked on my car, trying several different things and it still would not start. But I was not worried. He replaced Spark plugs, still no start. Then he replaced wires. By this time I had been stalled and he had been working for about 2 ½ hours and I had this distinct feeling that “Ok, this has been long enough, time for the car to start”. So this time when he turned the key the car started. I had to pay him for his work but I still considered him an angel for being there when I needed help. Maybe Archangel Michael did help me get the car started by sending a mechanic.

Are You Spiritual, Religious, Both or Neither?

I may be opening a can of worms but here goes.

As I get more into holistic health and energy therapies, I feel as if I am getting more and more spiritual. It is almost as if I cannot separate the two. I cannot imagine being one with out the other.

The other day I had a discussion with someone about energy therapies, EFT and Meridian Tapping specifically and saw their hackles rise when I mentioned how it was bringing me to a more spiritual place. She was real against the word spiritual.  Maybe her definition and mine were different.

I went to my Webster Dictionary and looked up spiritual. There is the vague definition of “relating to, or consisting of spirit”. Then there is the second definition of “relating to sacred matters”. The third one says “concerned with religious values”. Maybe I was going with the second definition and she was gong with the third but I don’t think so. She seemed to be real against spiritual.

This reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend who is now in seminary. I once mentioned that I was spiritual but not really religious. She just could not see how the two could be separated. Like many people, I have had bad experiences from my youth that left a bad taste for anything religious but I do like the spiritual aspect. I meditate, talk to my guides, angles, God and look for inspiration from the spirit realm. Some people may say I am religious because I go to church regularly. But I have been known to say that if my religion ever interfers with my spirituallity it will be the religion that goes.

I guess I see the religion as being a man made tool to try and get us closer to God or the Universal Power. It is when our man made tools become more important than what they were installed for in the first place that they start to hinder instead of help. Then it is time for them to be replaced.

So are you spiritual, religious, both or neither? Take part in my survey. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/L85CQS3

Fruits of the Spirit

January 8th, 2010 >> EFT, God, Life, Meridian Tapping, Relationship, Spirituality

I often say that EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and MTT (Meridian Tapping Techniques) only remove the negative in our lives and leaves the positive because we are born with the fruits of the spirit and as we live our lives we collect negative baggage in the form of negative emotions. Often this negativity occurs from the day we are born and I think some would say from before that.

What exactly do I mean by the fruits of the spirit? According to Galatians 5:22-23, the fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Let me take this apart and compare it to what emotions a newborn baby may come into this world with. I can see a baby being born with love and joy, but peace and patience or self-control? I just don’t see it. Let’s dig deeper.

Have you ever known a peaceful baby? I have. So the ones who are not peaceful may have had some contributing baggage already in their young life. It could have been as harsh as a drug abusing mother, or a physically abused mother or maybe something along the lines of a medical problem that cropped up for the baby or the mother while in the womb. I can see any of these leading to a restless, unhappy baby.

Some of these positive emotions are automatically compromised because we start out as helpless babies. Who would not lose patience and self-control when they can’t communicate what they need to those around them. So these positive emotions go out the door real fast.

This leaves goodness, faithfulness and gentleness. These qualities would be hard to see in a young baby. By the time the child is of an age to actually express these qualities in their life, family, friends, society and even TV have already influenced them. The child has had plenty of opportunity to learn the negative traits

The Spark in Your Life

Posted by: Ann

January 5th, 2010 >> God, Life, Physical/Material, Relationship, Spirituality

What makes some people “great” and most of us mediocre?

I think it has to do with the spark of God (or Creator, Universal Power, whatever your choice is) in each of us. It is not that some have more than others; it is what we do with it.

The spark in each of us is infused with our true desires. Our desires are important, there is a reason they are there. Our desires can lead us to our best use in this life.

Sometimes because of circumstances or obligations or maybe society influences, we deny our “best use” and choose to do something else. It is those who do their true desires that accomplish much as it is in alignment with our purpose for being here.

Sometimes we think that our desires are thwarted. I have heard of women who had a true and overpowering desire to be a mother but were unable to have children. Maybe that desire was put there for them to mother others who did not have mothers, or those who had poor mothering. There is a reason for that strong desire.

You can rewrite your desire contract, but be careful, as there is a reason that desire is there. When I was young, I had a strong desire to learn to fly. In college I took a sample class where they take you up in a plane and show you some of the basics. But when I was out on my own and working, I just could not see how I could afford lessons and plane rental fees and I asked for the desire to be taken from me and it was. But guess what, not too many years later I fell in love with some one who had a plane and loved to fly! Now I enjoy going up with my flying husband but much to his chagrin I have no real desire to learn. It would have added another dimension to our marriage if I had a strong flying desire like my husband.

The Death Taboo

Posted by: Ann

December 22nd, 2009 >> God, Life, Relationship, Spirituality

Yesterdays post got me thinking about death. I know this is not usually thought about this time of year. In fact discussion of it at all is often put off until some one dies and even then it is often made light of. Why do we have such a repulsion of that topic?

When my dad was alive and I would visit, we would have many a discussion about death and what my dad wanted after he died. He even commented once that my older brothers would not listen to him when he tried to talk about such things and he was glad that I would.

Why do we as a society tend to ignore death until it hits us over the head. Maybe our aversion comes from the fear that once gone always gone, or maybe it is because we truly don’t believe in an afterlife or maybe the afterlife we think we are going to is going to be horrendous.

I was brought up with the Hell, Fire and Brimstone mentality. The religious figures around me tried to present as fact that God was judgmental and we all deserved hell. For some reason this just did not resonate as true to me. Why would God have created us if He were going to hate us so? My God was a loving God. He always was and always will be. It wasn’t until later that I realized that the “Fear of God” was just mans way of controlling the masses, trying to get them to do what the ones in power (the religious order) thought was right.

Fear has always been a tool for control. God who is all-powerful has no need for control tools. Can what we do here in this earthly plan really cause any of these negative man made emotions to come out in an all powerful, all knowing God?

What kind of God do you have?

The Meaning of Life, The Universe and Everything

December 19th, 2009 >> Guides, Life, Reincarnation, Spirituality, Truth

My apologies to Douglas Adams for the title of today’s post.
Have you ever thought about the meaning of life? I don’t mean to get real heavy on you today. This is Saturday after all.
When I was a teen, I asked my family what was the meaning of life and my sister-in-law piped up that it was to help people. That seemed like a strange answer to me and did not fit my life experiences. After all if that was the meaning of life, why were there so many people out there who needed help? If every one was helping then everyone should have all the help they could stand.
I wanted something deeper, more personal. You might say I have been searching for the meaning of life ever since. I suppose each of us finally settles on a meaning for our life. There probably is no one answer to this question, it is as varied as there are lives and some people give it a lot of thought and others see no reason to entertain the question.
I once heard a story about a little boy who came to kindergarten crying because his mother had lost his reason for being born (she had misplaced his birth certificate). How many of us have lost our reason for being born? Are we accomplishing what we came here for?
I think I am on track. I know I came here for a reason. But for some reason, I am not allowed to see the path clearly. Maybe if the path was well defined and I could see down the road clearly, I would be scared out of my wits. I know if I had known where life would have taken me so far, I would have been dreading the difficult spots and been too scared to go that route.
I guess I just have to live each day and see what happens and take the opportunities that present themselves. Maybe that is all any of us can do on this earth plane.

Conscious Living

December 18th, 2009 >> Books, Energy, Life, Manifesting, Physical/Material, Spirituality

What is conscious living?

My definition is living a life where one is aware of and at peace with their actions. To be at peace with our actions means that we agree that we did the best we could, or we did what was right.

This is more than just knowing what I am doing; it is actually being in control of my actions and knowing why I am doing something. I am deliberately doing something with intention. This does not negate spontaneity. Sometimes an opportunity may come along and a person may deliberately decide they will take that opportunity. A person doesn’t just go along with the flow but they make their own path. In other words they know what they are doing and they agree with the action. In fact living a conscious life will actually open you up to more possibilities, as you will start to notice them.

Conscious living is living in the now. It is being aware of what is going on right now all around you. What do you hear right now? What do you smell? What do you see besides the words on this page? The now will open up in front of you and you will experience more and see more as you become aware.

I know I am not presenting this real well but a good and entertaining book about living the conscious life is Way of The Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives by Dan Millman. This book tells the story of a young college athlete and his friendship with an old man who becomes his mentor in striving for a conscious life. This is a really inspiring and mind-opening book. It will change the way you look at your life. There are great possibilities out there but you have to be aware of them by being aware of what is going on around you. For those who prefer movies you are in luck Peaceful Warrior is in DVD form. If you need a Christmas present this will be one that will be used over and over.

Surrogate Energy Work

Posted by: Ann

December 13th, 2009 >> EFT, Energy, Meridian Tapping, Spirituality

Did you know that most energy work could be done without the benefitting person being touched?

The NAET person I go to for allergy elimination will work on babies, small children and animals. But for each of these she has the parent or owner hold the baby or animal or in the case of a horse the owner touches the horse. This is to put the benefitting entity in the energy field of the surrogate (parent/owner) while the practitioner works on the surrogate. The benefit is transferred to the one being touched.  Isn’t that wild?

Did you know that for most energy work, the person being worked on does not even have to be in the same room! When I am feeling sick and just don’t have the energy to work on myself, I will ask my husband to run Reiki on me. I usually ask him over the phone as he is often somewhere in the country on business. He will then run the energy when he has time, and I can usually tell when he is running energy for me, as I will start to feel better. I also know if he gets interrupted, as I will start to feel worse. I seem to require a lot of energy to get me over the hump to where I stay feeling better. In this case the energy work is not surrogate work as my husband is actually sending the energy to me. It is labeled long distance work.

With Meridian Tapping, the practitioner will often use themselves as the surrogates. I have done this. I call the person’s energy to me or if the person is too weak to allow their energy to leave, I will just say I am that person and this is for their benefit as I tap on my self.  Some EFT practitioners pretend the person is sitting in front of them and they tap on an invisible person.

Why would this work? Maybe it is because we are all connected. We all have energy running through us, could this energy be connected?  The energy of the tree, the energy of the rocks and dirt, the energy of your neighbor, the energy of your worst enemy. We are all connected. What hurts one, hurts us all. What benefits one, benefits us all.  It is the spirit of life, of existence.
