The Holographic Universeby Michael Talbot is a thought provoking book about the nature of reality. This book explains how the hologram, which projects a three-dimensional image into space, seems to explain the nature of reality.
This is an intriguing book with references and explanations of a lot of research that has been conducted world wide. I was familiar with some of the researchers like Fred Alan Wolfe but this was my first introduction to most of them.
Many examples are given from various experiences of different people including the author. One such experience relayed involved a hypnotist who was hired to entertain a group of friends at Mr. Talbot’s father’s house, the author was in attendance. One guest seemed to be susceptible to hypnotic suggestion. Tom had never been hypnotized before but proved to be a very good subject. The hypnotist put him in a deep trance and performed the usual tricks that a stage hypnotist does. One trick was convincing Tom that there was a giraffe in the room at which Tom responded by gapeing in wonder. The hypnotist told Tom a potato was an apple and Tom ate it with gusto. But the real kicker came when Tom was told that his teenage daughter would be completely invisible to him. Tom’s daughter, Laura, was positioned in front of Tom and then Tom was awakened and asked if he could see her. Laura was giggling but Tom looked right through her. “No” he couldn’t see her. The hypnotist went behind Laura so that he was hidden from Tom’s normal view and took an object from his pocket. Tom could not have seen what the hypnotist had done and the hypnotist pressed the object against Laura’s back. He asked Tom to identify the object. Tom said it was a watch. Then the hypnotist asked Tom if he could read the inscription. Tom squinted and read out the name of the watches owner (someone that none of them knew) and the inscription! The hypnotist then showed the watch to the others in the room and everything was correct. Later Tom said that all he had seen was the hypnotist standing and holding the watch in the palm of his hand.
Many more experiences from other people are also given with the explanation of how a holographic universe could account for that.
What tops this for me is that two weeks after reading this book an article came out in our little sleepy town, conservative newspaper with the title “Are We Holograms?”. Makes you think.
Release the Fear to Manifest the Life You Want

I ran across a quote the other day that I really liked. “Attitudes are more important that Facts” by Dr. Karl Menninger – psychiatrist.
Last year I did an experiment where I noted my attitude then noted how life was going. I discovered that the facts of my life, if life was being difficult or easy, followed my attitude changes. Not the other way around! I may have been feeling good about life and what was going on and then I would let my fears for the future creep in. It was after I started to feel fearful that life started spiraling downward, money started getting tight, unexpected bills started arriving. I would then pull myself together and force a more optimistic outlook and then my money situation would start to shift.
This year I am making a major effort to stay focused on optimism. I have rediscovered faith; Faith in the future, Faith in ultimate good, Faith that God has my best interest at heart, and Faith that the Universe will provide. So far that has worked well. I went through some shaky fights with fear until I decided to release it. That was about two months ago now and I have been relatively fear free since. This is amazing to me as I have had fear all my life!
From talking with others and reading personal stories I have discovered that releasing the fear is the first step to manifesting the life you want. Fear stands in the way of life’s energy. It is the flow of energy that brings things to you. Since releasing the fear, so much information has come to me about positive attitude and manifesting what you want it almost feels surreal at times. I have had moments where I have felt overwhelmingly optimistic, that nothing was impossible. This feeling causes me to feel very light of body, almost a tingly sensation. I wonder if this is a feeling of higher vibration? I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Ask and It Is Given

One of the original speakers on “The Secret” was Esther Hicks. We were so impressed by what she said that we bought several of her books one of which is Ask & It Is Given. This fits with my theme for the week on positive thinking.
This book provides a way of increasing your vibrational frequency by improving your emotional outlook. There is a nifty scale about half way in the book that starts at the lowest emotion of “Fear/Grief/Depression/Dispair/Powerlessness” and moves up the scale through Anger and Worry through Frustration and Pessimism then into what we judge as the more positive emotions such as Contentment, Optimism, Enthusiasm and at the top is “Joy/Knowledge/Empowerment/Freedom/Love/Appreciation”. What makes this book such a keeper are the useful suggested exercises to help you move up the scale to a higher vibration.
Most of us lump all negative emotions into one group as being bad. But there are degrees. For example, the year I was depressed, I lost the depression when I became angry. Anger is higher up the scale from depression (which is at the very bottom) so anger was an improvement. Our society tends to view anger as one of the worst emotions, but it is not at the bottom. Anger can lead to much needed social change. Anger can cause a person to find a better way. But anger is still one of the lower vibrations and it is best to work your way up the scale from that.
Paul was so impressed with the suggested processes that he wrote them down on index cards and carried them around for a long time.
The purpose of the book is to get you to a place where you feel the Life Force in you and around you. It is the Joy you feel in life. A quote I like from the book is “Success is about a happy life, and a happy life is just a string of happy moments. But most people do not allow the happy moments because they are so busy trying to get a happy life.” So true. Our emotions are there as a barometer to tell you how far away from your true self you are. When you are feeling bad you are not in your true power. As the book says “Life is supposed to be fun–It is Supposed to feel good!”
I have been really into positive thinking lately. Recently I have realized how negative my thoughts had become. It was like I was swimming in a sea of negativity. I have been determined to change things.
By changing your thoughts you can change your life. Do something with me right now. Say the word ‘Awesome’. Now stand up and say it with feeling ‘AWESOME’. Did you feel a shift in energy? I know someone who did a lot of stage presentations and he said that he would stand in front of a mirror before going on and say ‘AWESOME’ with feeling three times. Another good word to say before you have a presentation or meeting is ‘YES’. Say that if front a mirror three times with hand movements and excitement and you will definitely have a shift. If you actually did that, don’t you feel better?
There are many ways to shift your attitude. I read about a person who started experimenting with facial expressions. You have heard that smiling can lift your spirits. Well he had heard that also and wanted to learn more. This person learned about all the different muscles in the face. He discovered which muscles created which expressions. But he did not stop there. He and a colleague developed facial exercises to learn to work each muscle individually! He found that when he moved the correct muscles to make a specific expression, he experienced the corresponding emotion in his body! Isn’t that wild? There is basis to ‘smile and you will feel better’.
This led me to think about other ways that can change our feelings or even our character. I will go into that tomorrow.
The Reconnection by Dr. Eric Pearl is a story (I really don’t like using that word as it implies fiction and this is not fiction) about Eric Pearl and how he ‘discovered’ his healing gift. This is the story of a Chiropractor whose patients started having miraculous healings. Talk about a life that gets a little weird at times. He tells it all.
The book is not just a good fun read but also very informative. It takes into consideration those people who want to heal themselves and those who want to help others heal. Eric dislikes using the word ‘healer’ when referring to himself because he says “I do not heal anybody”. He explains that the healer’s role is to listen and open yourself to receive the energy that allows you to be the catalyst for the healing to take place. So true, for a healer it is essential to learn to get yourself out of the way so real healing can take place.
Eric has a different point of view than most light workers about healing. He doesn’t believe that any ritual or objects or even any physical effort such as tapping is required to evoke healing. He says we need to let go of all this baggage. He doesn’t say it in so many words but he indicates that light workers need to lighten their bag and get rid of a lot of unnecessary items.
This isn’t just a come-on book to lead you to spend on his seminars. He gives very practical information about activating and feeling the healing energy with your own hands. Eric also gives some good advice to others wishing to set up shop as a light healer. I have several pages in this book dog-eared for reference.
Dr. Eric Pearl is one of the few energy workers that I really want to learn more about and one of the things I have on my list of things to do is to attend one of his workshops.
The Benefits of Being Positive

I have a neighbor who is always dwelling on how bad things are and how she just can’t get ahead with her finances. I really don’t care to listen to all these complaints as I am trying very hard to live a positive life. I have found that this person does not come around as much as she use to. I think it may be because I am sending out more positive energy waves which repell her negative one.
Last year I did an experiment where I noted when my emotional state changed and then noted what manifested in my physical life. I can tell you the emotional change occurred BEFORE the physical manifestation. When I started feeling down and woe-is-me the lack soon started coming into my life. When I decided to give myself a talking to and be more positive, things started picking up and money started to flow again.
This year I am doing another experiment. I have decided to be as positive as I can as much as I can. I have found that new information and help keeps coming my way to keep me on track. Some of the things that have come my way include: a friend starting a group called “Mindful Happiness” which is a support group for us trying to live a more positive life, I have also rediscovered some books that have helped me, each one coming when I needed to go a little deeper or concentrate on a different area.
What am I experiencing on a more tangible level? For one thing, the monthly bills are being paid even-though no major invoices have gone out since March!
I will keep you informed of any major changes. Let’s stay positive!
Manifesting or Intuition?

I wanted to continue with yesterday’s topic as I feel it is very important. Maybe I am just trying to get it clear in my own mind.
One morning last week I started thinking about my watch. I had to take this watch in for some repair work in April and had to leave it with them. I was thinking it was about time to get my watch back. That afternoon, I received a call that my watch was ready.
Some people call these types of occurrences idiosyncrasies, others call them coincidences but I want to propose something else. What if these are actually manifestations of our thoughts? What if we have more power than we think we do?
Are you ready to take responsibility for your thoughts and resulting actions?
You could probably tell me your own stories. The time you started thinking about someone you have not thought of in years and all of a sudden you get a call from them. What about the list of things you wanted to do that you wrote up years ago then rediscovered the list recently and realized you have accomplished them all.
There are many such stories. Are these coincidences? In this household we have a favorite saying “There are no coincidences”.
I think one of two things is happening. Either we are using our intuition and accessing the future or we are creating, manifesting the future.
I find myself leaning more and more toward the idea that we are manifesting the future. What do think is going on?
Have you ever ‘known’ something was going to happen – and it did? There have been times I saw a door prize and ‘knew’ it was mine. I would be out of my seat and about to head to the front before my name was even called. I always wondered if I was creating the event or exercising intuition.
This can also apply to unpleasant events. Once my husband and I were outside watching our two-year-old ride his new bike. I was close to the house and Paul was by the end of the drive where there was a three foot drop into the bar-ditch full of muddy water. Jesse had ridden to within five feet of where Paul was and stopped. I ‘knew’ Jesse was going to head for the ditch but I thought ‘Paul’s there and will stop him’. Sure enough, Jesse gave a little banzai scream and headed for the ditch, and Paul just stood there. I was pretty frustrated with Paul at the time (we ended up in the emergency room – but Jesse was ok). But now I think I was picking up on intuition about that event when Paul was not.
Then there are the times I just knew it was time; time to get a job, time to go on a retreat. The feeling was one of resignation, a letting down of an energy that was keeping the status quo. As soon as I let the energy down the event happened. For example: I had moved to Austin with my new husband and had been searching for a job. One day while driving around I felt it was time to get a job. There was an energy shift. When I got home, I received a call from some one who had received my resume and I knew from their tone that they were going to hire me. Another time, my husband had talked me into signing up for a 3 day retreat. This was a women’s retreat that had a six month waiting list. I was not totally sold on going when I signed up but two weeks later while driving around town I decided it was time and I really did need to go on this retreat. When I got home, my sponsor called and said there was a cancellation for the retreat happening that weekend and could I go! As soon as my shift in thought or energy occurred the event happened!
I have been playing with shifting energy lately and it is hard. The resistant energy resides at the bottom of my heart and just above my stomach. I can feel it. But letting it go is difficult. I can’t seem to force it to leave; I have to let it go or release it. I would be interested in knowing of other people’s experiences.
Have you ever had one of those weeks where you are sick all week and can’t get anything done? Last week was like that for me and I am still recovering. I could feel the cold coming on Monday. I did not think much of it. OK, a cold, which means two days of sore throats followed by three days of only being able to breathe out of one side of my nose. Then I suffer through two to three weeks of drainage down the back of my throat, keeping me from singing in church.
I started taking my vitamin C when the sore throat hit. Vitamin C can help cut the sore throat to a day and the clogged nose to 1-2 days. I did not think much of the cold otherwise, at least not for the first two days. I guess that is why it was different this time, it just kept coming. By the end of the week the sleepless nights were getting to me. I hate trying to sleep when I can’t breathe!
Finally on Friday I looked up the healing properties of amethyst and Turquoise (the stones on the necklace my spirit guides chose for me). From The Illustrated Directory of Healing Crystals: A Comprehensive Guide to 150 Crystals and Gemstones by Cassandra Eason, the healing properties are “… relieves … sore throats, …lung and chest infections, and asthma and other allergies. ….. gives resistance to fight viruses.” Just what I needed. I put the necklace on Friday morning and wore it all day and night! Finally had a good night sleep and woke Saturday morning feeling better! I took the necklace off to shower and did not put it back on. By Saturday afternoon I was feeling worse and having a relapse. Saturday night I did not get to sleep until after 4 am. Sunday morning I was tired and ornery, not feeling well at all. I put the necklace back on. By Sunday afternoon I was feeling better.
The cold may have been running its course or maybe the necklace was helping. Believe what you want but I do not believe in coincidences.

So your method of dealing with anger is not working too well. Maybe you have one of the anger related ailments listed in yesterday’s post but don’t really believe you have an anger issue.
When I was going through depression, I talked to someone who had experienced depression. He told me that his therapist told him his depression was caused from suppressed anger. At the time I thought, “that’s not me, I don’t feel any anger.” But isn’t that what suppressed means? You don’t know about it! I was working through a lot of self help books, trying to get better. One workbook said to write a letter to someone you are mad at. I thought, I’m not mad at anyone, but I decided to do the exercise anyway and started writing a letter to the first person who popped into my head. Let me tell you, there are no coincidences; there is a reason a memory, a person, an event, pops into your head. As I wrote the tears came and the emotion came out. Boy was I surprised! But the biggest surprise was how I felt afterwards. The depression was gone! That was 17 years ago and the depression has not returned.
But what if you know you have an anger issue and just acknowledging it doesn’t help. Let me assure you there are methods that can help. A great method is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or one of the other meridian tapping techniques. This can produce very fast and lasting results. My husband once had a difficult event that left him with much anger. He asked for my help. I did several rounds of EFT with him for the anger and it dissolved. He said afterwards it felt like there was a hole where the anger had been. He could feel where the anger had been but there wasn’t anything there now. That anger never came back and over time was replaced with compassion.
Your anger may be from a single incident like my husband’s or from a multitude of events. It doesn’t matter, EFT can handle it all. Give it a try for yourself. Check out www.naturallyresilient.com and learn the technique yourself or better yet sign up for a session and get some personal attention. This kind of work can be done over the phone!
