I wrote the original post 16 years ago and it became my most active post. I did not realize it was such a hot topic. But just the other day I came across some more information on the topic that I wanted to share.
In my February 2016 issue of Mechanical Engineering magazine that the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) publishes, there was an article titled “By the Numbers: Fewer Miles For American Cars.” This article states that Americans have consistently increased the number of miles driven through the years the only exceptions were the oil crises of 1974 and 1979, that is until 2007; At that point the number of miles driven stalled. That is not all; starting in 2008 the percentage of licensed drivers failed to keep up with population growth and during the recent recession the number of registered vehicles actually declined and still has not passed the 2007 peak.
The article goes on to say that one of the factors at work may be “the apparent disdain of the so-called Millennial generation – those born since 1983- who seem more attracted to compact, walkable cities than are older Americans.” These younger Americans are also “taking fewer trips, shorter trips and a larger share of trips via public transportation.” This article also quotes a report by the United States Public Interest Research Group, a non-profit based in Boston that said “Today’s young people drive less than previous generations of young Americans… even when economic and other factors linked to vehicle ownership or driving are taken into account.”
This is interesting information when you realize that Millennials are the largest generation in the nation.
I wonder if there may be other factors involved. A number of teens responding to the original post expressed fear of driving. Considering that 92 people were killed in roadway accidents in the US on average every day in 2012, these teens may have a legitimate point. Information from Wikipedia shows that from 1899 to 2013 there have been 3,601,732 fatalities from motor vehicle accidents in the US.
My view is that a lot of these souls who met such an end are coming back through in the millennial generation. On the soul level, they remember their previous violent deaths and are seeking to avoid the same fate this time round. I remember years ago walking through a preschool yard and passing a line of small children and hearing one of them commenting to a teacher that they were hit by a car once. The teacher was quick to say “No you weren’t”. Maybe we need to stop, listen and explore what small children are saying.
Many fears and phobias can be linked to past life experiences so why not car deaths.
I love to meditate. When I do, my day goes so much better, I am calmer and more at peace with what is going on around me. Once when meditating I asked about life plans and purpose. This is what I heard back. Everyone (or most) have more than one life plan before they come here. In living their life they make choices that send them down one plan’s path instead of the other. But for the most part, we are here to experience. To experience emotions and experience living in a linear plane where we don’t know the future.
Before we come here we know the general gist of what is going to happen. It is like going to a movie, you know what the movie is about but you still want to go and experience it for yourself. I have even rated lives as to what kind of movie it is. When I was younger my life was a musical comedy, after I got married it became more of a love story/drama.
Sometimes we come to this plane out of duty, obligation or love for someone else to help them. But even when we do that, we still intertwine personal benefits and growth for ourselves into the plan. We intend to make good use of the time spent on this plane.
Some people are here just to have fun and relax. Their experience can be compared to a vacation in a foreign country. When I was in High School I so hoped that I was just here to have fun this time. I think I had an inkling that this was going to be a difficult life, full of growth opportunities and I was dreading it a little. Well no such luck. I am here to work and work hard. I just hope that I did plan some relaxation in so I can relax and see the sites before I leave this plane.
A Cry from the Womb – Book Review Sunday

A Cry from the Womb: Healing the Heart of the World: A Guide to Healing and Helping Souls Return to the Light After Sudden Death, Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Abortion by Gwendolyn Awen Jones, is a great book for those (including men) who have lost a child through sudden death, miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion. Gwen is totally nonjudgmental but is writing from her heart in an effort to provide hope and help to those involved. This is a very private matter and Gwen handles it with in-depth understanding having had losses herself.
I know the author and knew about one of her losses but had no idea about the other traumatic events. But in this book she opens up and tells of all the anguish and heart ache that she has held hidden inside.
Gwen is a medical intuitive, spiritual teacher and healer. In her work she strives to bring peace and healing and in this book she strives for the same thing. She is very concerned with the Soul: the soul of the child involved and the soul of the adults affected.
If you are in pain and hurting due to the loss of a child, this book can be a great comfort.
The Advancement of the Human Race

I have been thinking about the spiritual growth of humanity. Are we really growing and improving? After watching the evening news I am inclined to say not.
However the news shows what is unusual so if something shows up on the news that means it is out of the ordinary or does not normally happen. In other words, since the news always seems to show the bad of humanity that implies that the good is normal and commonplace. This gives me hope, maybe we are truly growing and improving.
I also have another way of looking at humanity through the ages. I believe in reincarnation. Each of us has lived multiple lives. There are certain experiences we all have gone through or will go through. These experiences lead to the growth of the soul and ultimately the growth of humanity. Such experiences are:
• We have all died in war
• We all are attacked
• We have all been attackers
• We have starved to death
• We have abused power
• We have all been abused
If we had no conflict or hardships we would be comfortable where we are and would have no reason to change or grow. Comfort means the status quo and there is no change. When we are challenged we have to develop new reasons, new beliefs and new ideologies so we can once more be comfortable in mind and then comfortable in body. Sometimes we have to go through a traumatic event in a series of lives. Each life is trying to work it out, or come to terms with what is happening. When we finally decide how to deal with it and can incorporate it into our soul we can move on to something else.
Each of these major events in our lives has left an imprint on our soul. We have changed, we have grown. This can only lead to a change in humanity as a whole. We can even look back through recorded history and see how our ideas and beliefs have changed and how we have grown. I have hope that soon we all will have experienced war enough to decide we don’t need it any more.
I just finished reading Captain Robert L. Snow’s book “Looking For Carroll Beckwith: The True Story of a Detective’s Search for His Past Life”. This is a story of an Indianapolis Police Commander who was dared to have a past life regression. He becomes rather obsessed with determining if the events he felt and saw were real events. He is able to document a lot of his previous incarnation and shows it in this book.
What really surprised me about the book was his fear of being thought an odd ball for possibly believing that the regressions were actually showing past lives. He goes through a moral dilemma about this.
This book made me question my belief that there is a large population out there in our protestant world who also believe in reincarnation. I have believed in reincarnation since I was a child. I was not taught this as I was raised Southern Baptist but it just made sense to me. Am I just an odd ball myself? Or are there others out there reading this whom believe in reincarnation?
The Meaning of Life, The Universe and Everything

My apologies to Douglas Adams for the title of today’s post.
Have you ever thought about the meaning of life? I don’t mean to get real heavy on you today. This is Saturday after all.
When I was a teen, I asked my family what was the meaning of life and my sister-in-law piped up that it was to help people. That seemed like a strange answer to me and did not fit my life experiences. After all if that was the meaning of life, why were there so many people out there who needed help? If every one was helping then everyone should have all the help they could stand.
I wanted something deeper, more personal. You might say I have been searching for the meaning of life ever since. I suppose each of us finally settles on a meaning for our life. There probably is no one answer to this question, it is as varied as there are lives and some people give it a lot of thought and others see no reason to entertain the question.
I once heard a story about a little boy who came to kindergarten crying because his mother had lost his reason for being born (she had misplaced his birth certificate). How many of us have lost our reason for being born? Are we accomplishing what we came here for?
I think I am on track. I know I came here for a reason. But for some reason, I am not allowed to see the path clearly. Maybe if the path was well defined and I could see down the road clearly, I would be scared out of my wits. I know if I had known where life would have taken me so far, I would have been dreading the difficult spots and been too scared to go that route.
I guess I just have to live each day and see what happens and take the opportunities that present themselves. Maybe that is all any of us can do on this earth plane.
More on Contracts from Beyond

Ok, your life is hard, too hard. You don’t think you can go on much longer. If this is your contract you made before coming here, you may have decided you have taken on more than you can handle, can you rewrite the contract?
Have an earnest talk with you guides and tell them how you feel. They are there to help you. If you want it changed, tell them. However they maybe able to see farther down the road and you may be closer to the end of your troubles than you think. Unless you anticipated such a move when you wrote the contract you could probably change it. If you anticipated that you might try and back out, you might have put a ‘no back out’ clause in the contract knowing that you could endure and the results would be worth the short term discomfort. Remember our current life is like a drop of water in the sea of existence.
Hang in there
I talked about having a contract from the “other side” before we get to this plane of existence.
What kind of contracts would we write up? I believe it is things that would further us along our path. Maybe we need to learn acceptance so we agree to a contract with others who will be that child or elderly parent who we will need to accept into our lives. Or we may make it more personal and come into this world with a deformity that will make us hard to accept to others.
Maybe we need to experience patience or abundance. Just like a painter has to put light against dark and dark against light for the colors to show, we have to experience the hate to experience the love, experience the need to appreciate the abundance. There is a reason we have the negative, it is so we can see the positive.
Just be assured that you will experience what you need to experience and be where you need to be as that is in your contract. Hopefully you have written in a good ending.
I wrote about reincarnation yesterday. Today I wanted to tell you about a contract between my husband Paul and I that I believe we made before coming to this plane.
When I started dating, I always matched my stride to whomever I was going out with, checking to see if they matched. After going out with many boyfriends, I went out with Paul. We had the same stride! That had never happened before. Now this is not something I would base a marriage on but Paul was different. All my other boyfriends lasted about 3 months then there was a mutual drifting apart. After 3 months with Paul, I knew I wanted to be with him the rest of my life.
There is another side to this story, Paul’s side. Before we met, I had decided to die my hair a dark auburn color (it is usually dishwater brown or dirty blond. Appetizing names right?) I then started to look for a new church. One that I visited and liked had an active singles group of which Paul was a member. So the first time Paul saw me I had red hair. He told me years later that he was looking for someone with red hair like I was looking for someone with the same stride.
Another interesting aspect is that both Paul and I were born in Virginia to Texas parents who moved back to Texas as soon as they could. My family moved to Houston when I was 3 ½ and Paul’s family took a more indirect route through Oklahoma before arriving in Texas. Virginia has always been important to me. People would call me a Texan and I would get very indignant and say, “No, I was a Virginian”.
We took a couple of vacations several years ago that took us through Virginia. Going into the State I had the overwhelming feeling that I was home. When we started heading back out, the closer to the State line we got the harder I cried. There was such grief at leaving and I did not know where it was coming from. This summer I had a past life reading that explained the connection to me. Now I know it was very important for me and for Paul to be born there.
I have often asked myself that question. Why am I here?
From an early age I have believed in reincarnation. In this belief there is the idea that we are here for some reason of our own choosing.
When I was a teenager I hoped that this time around the reason would be “just for the fun of it”. I just did not want a lot of work. Well it has been a lot of work! Maybe I knew that it would be a lot of work and I was dreading what was to come.
I think we put together a contract and a loose game plan for this life. It is a good thing we do not remember what we agreed to before coming here or we would be in a panic the whole time here and not accomplish anything.
Look back on your own life for the last 10 years and see how it has changed.
But what if we knew how things would turn out. What if we could see that light at the end of the tunnel. Would we be more relaxed about life and the dramas that are going on around us.
What is your reason for being here? I think everyone has a different reason. Most of us probably don’t have a clue. I think Mine is to grow and stretch spiritually.
What do you believe?
