The Art of Allowing

Posted by: Ann

May 25th, 2011 >> EFT, Manifesting, Truth

My previous post ended with me trying to learn to let go and allow. I fear letting go because I will loose control and if I loose control who knows what horrible things will happen. As I thought on this, I came to the conclusion that this is a false hood and probably ego talking and trying to maintain control. This is based on my work with EFT.

I practice EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and it is interesting that with this technique you can eliminate negative emotions but not remove what we consider to be positive emotions. That is because the ‘positive’ emotions are the true emotions; this is who you really are. The ‘negative’ are just clothes you choose to put on and wear for a while to cover the other ‘positive’ traits.

You can not destroy the ‘good’ and ‘positive’ because that is the basis, the original building block and when everything else is destroyed that is all that is left.

The basic truths of Love, Grace and Trust will always be there even when we refuse to acknowledge them. Since they are the underlying foundation, it is ok to let go and allow. When you let go, the truth will come to you; you are not forcing your corrupt ideas on the issue. When you allow – all that is good will come to you. You have to work and expend energy to ‘force’ the issue and that is when you experience the negative.

Think about the movie “Forest Gump” the main character went with the flow and his life happened and he was taken care of. That doesn’t mean that everything will go perfectly every moment but everything will be working to produce that perfection of Love, Grace and Trust and you will be safe.

Remember, everything but the basic truths are illusions and it takes energy to keep up the illusion. Let your guard down and let the good flow.

How do you do this? You can meditate and practice allowing. It is not just a matter of letting go but of allowing. You have to let go before there is room for the allowing.

A Real Life Dementor

Posted by: Ann

June 1st, 2010 >> Life, Physical/Material, Truth

This Memorial Day Weekend one of the cable channels had a Harry Potter marathon. This got me thinking about Dementors. Harry Potter’s dementors were dangerous because they first sucked the joy and hope from a person, then they sucked the soul out of them.

Do you realize we have present day, real life dementors? There is something a lot of us fall pray to that sucks the hope and joy from us and I believe it is totally capable of sucking the very soul from us. What is this horrible thing and why have we let it loose on the planet? This horrible thing is FEAR and yes we have let it loose on this planet. I believe we welcomed fear as soon as we left Eden. We were afraid of wild animals, we were afraid that the rains would not come, that the herd animals would not migrate, that the gods would be angry. I could write ten pages just listing all the things we as humanity have been afraid of through the ages and this would not even touch our personal private fears!

Why do we allow this fear to persist? OK, some fear is good, it keeps us safe. But what about the fear that wakes us up in the middle of the night in a panic about current relationship troubles or the pile of bills that we can’t pay. This is the fear I am talking about; this silent invader that does not contribute a solution but keeps our mind in a panic so we can not think logically. This is not a good thing. This fear sucks the joy right out of life. This is the fear that caused people to jump out of multi-story buildings during the great stock crash that preceded the ‘Great Depression’. This is the fear that smothers hope.

What can we do about it? Check back on Thursday when I will tell you how to overcome this fear, in the meantime, eat chocolate.

Intuitive Dream Interpretation

May 20th, 2010 >> Life, Truth

Dream interpretation involves getting in touch with your intuition. Unfortunately our western, American society has tried to eliminate and downgrade our intuition by denying our feelings. How often do you hear a well meaning parent telling a child “you aren’t hurt, I don’t see any blood.” When it is obvious the child who is sobbing is hurt, it may not be a physical hurt but the hurt is there. Some times I feel like smacking that parent and saying “that didn’t hurt did it?” Well back to dreams and intuition.

On Tuesday I mentioned using Dream Dictionaries and the interview method. Today I have another useful method: alternate hand writing. This method involves writing a question with your dominant hand and answering with the nondominant hand. By doing this you are accessing both sides of your brain. Ask the same types of questions you would with the alternating chair method. The nondominant hand takes longer and more concentration to form the letters, this ties up the logical part of you brain so the artistic side can actually have a chance to have a say in matters.

The last method I will mention will probably be the hardest for most people: Meditation. Do a simple meditation, get quiet, take your mind to a beautiful, safe area and access your inner wisdom. It may show up as a person, another version of you, a feeling or an object such as smoke. Ask the questions and wait for an answer. If no answer comes immediately, don’t worry, one may come later in the next day or two.

All the methods listed (except the dream dictionaries) are ways to access your intuition. That is all you need to do to interpret your dreams. Your own intuitive interpretation will have the most meaning to you as it is the most personal.
If you do experience a series of dreams with similar elements it may be worthwhile to interpret the dream. Your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

Dream Interpretation

I am going to delve into some dream interpretation today. Do you ever have a dream that repeats or one that has the same elements as another dream you had recently? I believe your dreams are trying to tell you something.

What I have determined is that our dreams are symbolic representations of our emotions. Our emotions are trying to make themselves know through familiar objects. Within the last week I have had two dreams that had very small ‘doors’ in them. This may sound a little like Alice in the Looking Glass, but the first had a stair way up to a very small opening about the size of a small pet door. I needed to get to the other side but there was no way I was going to fit through that opening. I found myself thinking if I was younger and smaller I would be able to fit but not now. In this dream I did not go up the stairs to make sure, but I went around the wall to look for another way to where I wanted to go. I did find a way and it was more direct than the pet door would have been. The second dream involved a small 2 foot x 2 foot opening that I had to slide out of the way. If you looked directly through the opening you would see a wall in front but I crawled through, turned the corner and went around the wall to find a large room containing all kinds of educational information.

How do you interpret such a dream? There are several ways. We as humans seem to have a ‘mass consciousness’. Because of this consciousness, we can assign meanings to specific images in our dreams. Google “dream interpretation” and you will find various dream dictionaries that say pretty much the same thing for the same words. For example: Dreaming about a campus (If you have been to college you have probably had such a dream) means you need to expand your thinking or knowledge and challenge yourself mentally; To hear a drum in your dream may symbolize the rhythm of life and a need to keep a steady pace in the pursuit of your goals. The term door had many meanings depending of if the door was open, locked, to the outside, inside a revolving door. What I settled on for the best fit for my door was that it meant a new opportunity that I am feeling is unimportant (being small) or difficult to obtain.

Another method of Dream interpretation that I was taught years ago involves sitting in a chair facing an empty chair. You start out as yourself and you talk to an element in the dream as if it were sitting in the opposite chair. Ask it questions such as: how do you feel, what is your purpose, what do you have to tell me? To receive an answer, get up and switch chairs. Become the other person or object and answer the question. When through, change chairs again and ask another question. When I did this with each of my door dreams, I got different answers. One door was sad and felt insignificant the other was happy and inviting.
There are other methods. I will continue with on Thursday.

Create Your Own Rules

May 8th, 2010 >> Energy, Manifesting, Physical/Material, Truth, Vibration

We all live by rules. Some rules are there to protect you. Some rules are created to level the playing field. Some rules are just to make the game more interesting.

We have legal rules to keep us safe. Then there are general and globally accepted morality rules about relationships, food, money, religion and a host of other areas. Each culture and country has rules on social behavior and acceptable ideologies. Then there are more personal rules that we create for ourselves. These rules are often a refinement of the more global rules such as: I will never find that perfect partner, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and I just can’t lose weight.

These rules hold true of us because we created them. But on the personal level, what is true for one may not be true for another. We manifest these personal truths into being. How do you manifest them? By putting energy into the idea. To manifest something you have to start with an idea. Then you add your passion, your energy, your emotion. Over time that extra energy solidifies into reality. The reality may start as an idea, such as “I can’t lose weight” that manifest into being overweight.

From what I have read about manifesting, answered prayers and even the paranormal activity some police departments run up against, it is intense emotion that creates things. I have found from personal experience in my prayer life that the more intense, emotional prayers get answered the fastest. I have heard and read many true life stories where some one in the midst of strong anger had extraordinary experiences such as: ironing clothes with a hot iron that was never plugged in, seeing objects falling off shelves and other objects being thrown across the room, witnessing objects appear in thin air. Often when someone feels their house is haunted and they move but the haunting continues in their new home, it is because their own strong emotion about something is still with them. It is the emotion that is creating the haunting activity not another entity.

If we are so good at manifesting, why don’t we direct that energy and create a more desirable life for ourselves? I believe we are attempting to learn that right now. Some people can do that. Some people seem to have a natural ability to manifest what they want. Maybe the rest of us are trying too hard. I would love to create my own rules and manifest what I want at will. I’ll let you know when I get there.

Is Reality Really Real?

Posted by: Ann

May 7th, 2010 >> Change, Life, Physical/Material, Truth

I have been reading a lot of things lately that are playing with the accepted definition of reality. We have an expected reality. We expect that table to really be there. We expect that chair to support our weight. We expect ourselves to have weight!

When someone steps beyond our reality we tend to get nervous and want to call the men with the white coats. Who is this person to tell me that table doesn’t really exist? Who do they think they are? Can’t they see it and feel it? They must be crazy. Those men in the white coats better have strait-jackets with them.

Let’s play with the idea that nothing really does exist. Everything is a construct. Just like Shakespeare said “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players:” Everything is ‘fake’. If it is ‘fake’ then what is the purpose for this construct? Maybe like the stage in Shakespeare’s quote, we are here to play, to entertain, to be entertained, to be someone we are not. That may be it! To be… someone we are not.

On the other side, in the spirit realm, things may be too perfect so to experience challenges and stress and to play at being someone we are not; we audition for parts and get to go on stage. What we call ourselves also implies this, think about the term human being. We are being human for a while. This elaborate setup provides opportunities for us to experience, learn and grow.

If this is a construct, who constructed it? I would venture to say that not only has a higher power had something to do with it but we all have made a contribution. We are all in on it. We have agreed to certain ‘rules’ to live by. We feel the table. We see each other. We have to eat to survive. What would happen if all of a sudden we decided that this was not true and it all vanished? There have been some people through time that have altered their reality. Some have been declared Saints, some have been killed for their abilities (but then if this is all fake, do we really die?). There are people alive today who do not play by the rules or who have created different rules to live by.
Wouldn’t it be fun to create your own rules and life by them? Tomorrow I will write about that.

Second Sight – Book Review Sunday

Second Sight: An Intuitive Psychiatrist Tells Her Extraordinary Story and Shows You How To Tap Your Own Inner Wisdom by Judith Orloff, M.D. is a biography of her life and insights along the way. Don’t let the word biography scare you. This is anything but dull dry reading. I was fascinated throughout the book. I enjoyed it so much that I had to buy a second book because my husband wanted to read it at the same time and I would not let go of the book! Judith is a medical intuitive. Her premonitions as a child had scared her and she tried hard to rebel against them. Her mother was very strong willed and was alarmed at the premonitions that her daughter had. Judith finally came to terms with her ability and learned how to incorporate it into her medical practice even though years of medical school tried to squelch it out of her. Judith has great pointers on developing and using intuition. Even though she has always had a natural ability in this area, her insights have helped me in developing my own intuition. This is a fascinating read, however if you read it before going to sleep you may discover the clock is reading 2:00am and you still don’t want to put the book down. I think I will read this one again.

The Four Agreements – Book Review Sunday

The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, A Toltec Wisdom Book by Don Miguel Ruiz is a book I have read several times and I get something new out of it each time. I have also loaned my copy out to friends and recommended it to many others so now I am recommending it to you.

I really believe if you keep the 4 agreements in mind when you are dealing with people and living your life, your life will go more smoothly. I could list the four agreements here but then you would get the wrong idea and think you already know it all. Don Miguel Ruiz really explains each of the agreements and what they mean and why they are important. He uses many examples.

This book has helped me keep an even keel when I deal with difficult people. I found the most meaningful agreement was the second one ‘Don’t take anything personally’. Just this one agreement can help you stay calm when in the midst of emotional storms created by those around you.

It you would live your life to these 4 agreements you would live a happier and more productive life.

Learning in Texas Public Schools

Posted by: Ann

March 26th, 2010 >> Life, Truth

I am taking a little introductory class in American Sign Language (ASL). It has been very interesting. ASL has its own sentence structure and is an official language. I also learned that the public school teaches sign language but it is not ASL but a mutilated version that corresponds to our English language sentence structure. Why would the schools do that? Why not teach the real thing instead of trying to pass off a version that many deaf people may not be able to read? (I just added one more point for home schooling).

In Texas, I have been seeing billboards that tout Texas Public Schools. These billboards are sponsored by Friends of Texas Public Schools (FOTPS) and most say something along the lines of ‘great things are happening within Texas Public Schools’. First I ask why does the Public School have to advertise? If they are doing a great job, it will be known.

Have you ever noticed that ads usually tout their weakness as their actual strength? It is like they think if they scream loud enough that this product does this particular thing so well that you will believe them. I have seen this with cleaning supplies, laundry soap, food items and now I am seeing it with the Texas Public School billboard campaign. There is a reason that so many people home school. I know teachers who home school. I know people who would like to home school. I know a woman who was a single mom and teacher who wished she had been able to home school her overly bright child. This child with so much potential was burned, ridiculed, and put down by the school system so much that now as a grown young man he makes a minimal living flipping hamburgers. I know of another woman whose son was salutatorian for his High School, winning over $130, 000 in scholarships but then refused to go to college because he just saw it as more of the same type of hazing and he was feed up with it.

What is our school system doing wrong that it is creating such a crisis with our children?

I think the biggest problem is that they are teaching to a test and forgetting to teach the children. This is not an indictment of the teachers. There are many teachers out there who sincerely want to help the children learn but their hands are tied with policies and procedures. The polices must be changed so the teachers may actually be able to teach again. I have seen teachers who rejoiced when the last TAKS test was complete for the year because then they were finally free to teach what they wanted the kids to learn. They only had a few weeks but they tried the best they could. What is wrong with this picture?

I am afraid I have been ranting. I meant to write about learning a new language, ASL. I guess I have a topic for tomorrow.

Live In the Now

March 5th, 2010 >> Books, Energy, God, Life, Physical/Material, Truth

Have you noticed that when you have bought a new car all of a sudden you see hundreds of that same car and color on the road? Or when you are expecting, every woman you see looks pregnant. Well the same thing is happening to me. No I am not pregnant nor have I bought a new car, but a new idea has been introduced to me and I am seeing it every where. I have heard that when an idea presents itself to you in 3 different ways that you need to sit up and take notice because it is the truth.

What is this great truth? It is living in the now. It has really been brought home to me through Eckhart Tolle’s book The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment. But I keep bumping into the concept. Just last Sunday I ran into this reading Job. Job is a character who loses everything but his nagging wife. He has even lost his health. Three friends come to commiserate with him and give their ill advice. A 4th person pops in and puts his 2 cents in (I think he had the best advice) then God interrupts and says to be content and to basically live in the now. That is what I read. Read it yourself, it’s in the Bible.

If you live in the now, even in your misery, you have the chance to feel the river of life, that life giving force that runs through all things. If you can feel that flow of contentment and energy, you will feel hope. If you feel hope, you will be more positive. If you become more positive, the law of attraction will accommodate and things will get better.

The alternative is to dwell in your misery and your “poor me” attitude and live on the surface, never feeling the flow of life that is always there. If you live in the misery at the surface you are actually stifling the flow. If the flow is stifled you will attract more that will stifle the flow. The law of attraction works both ways.
