I just finished reading Captain Robert L. Snow’s book “Looking For Carroll Beckwith: The True Story of a Detective’s Search for His Past Life”. This is a story of an Indianapolis Police Commander who was dared to have a past life regression. He becomes rather obsessed with determining if the events he felt and saw were real events. He is able to document a lot of his previous incarnation and shows it in this book.
What really surprised me about the book was his fear of being thought an odd ball for possibly believing that the regressions were actually showing past lives. He goes through a moral dilemma about this.
This book made me question my belief that there is a large population out there in our protestant world who also believe in reincarnation. I have believed in reincarnation since I was a child. I was not taught this as I was raised Southern Baptist but it just made sense to me. Am I just an odd ball myself? Or are there others out there reading this whom believe in reincarnation?

The word “reincarnation” has for me implication in modern language that mortal life is what’s “real” hence the spirit seeks to return to the mortal life. My understanding is that the spirit life is what is real: the mortal life is but a “construct”, ala “The Matrix” or “Surrogate”. The difference of reality to those two movies is that the spirit is indestructible, and is at all times consenting to the charade.

Why is fear so much more palpable in the night? Sometimes when I get seracd in the night, the simplest thing I can do is open my eyes and look around me at the tangible things in my life and remember that I am here in this moment and all is well and I am safe. And you’re right. You’ll be back. You’ve been here before, but right now, in this life, you’re doing so much. And we all appreciate it.Love.

I have learned something new lately. As you described in your comment that remembering that you are here in this moment and all is well can make a big difference. If we live in the “Now” the panic will subside. It is reaching into the ‘imagines’ fears of the future or the regrets of the past that causes the fear. Remember we are human “beings” we are here to be, to experience, to be in the now. We have the capacity to plan for the future or learn from our past but our prime concern should be ‘Now’ as that is all we really have control over. Living in the now and the feelings we have now will create our future one step at a time.
