It is starting to feel more like summer around here. The days are getting hotter in Central Texas. Even though summer doesn’t officially arrive until June 21, summer ‘officially’ arrives around here when you have to run the air conditioner all day to stay halfway comfortable. Every year I try to hold off as long as possible before turning it on. The air conditioner is the main cost of electricity and it can easily double your electric bill. We have ceiling fans in every room but the bathrooms and the kitchen, but just stirring the air does not help when the air itself is hot.
As a teen growing up in Houston, which has not only heat but humidity, there was a year when we had a major heat wave. I remember one day it got up to 114 and I had to go outside to see what 114 felt like. It felt like walking into a giant oven! It was suffocating.
I believe the South did not really become heavily populated until air-conditioning was invented. Have you ever been camping in 100 degree weather? It is not much fun. If you are from up north you may not have any idea what I am talking about.
Fresh out of college, I visited a friend and her family in New Hampshire in May. It was still pretty cool in New Hampshire at that time of year. Her father was planting tomatoes and I mentioned that my dad got his in early enough that he could have early summer tomatoes and then replant for early fall tomatoes. He had no idea what I was talking about. He could not get his mind around that the tomato plants would literally burn up in the heat of summer; wilt and die. I wonder if he even knew that tomatoes will not “set” (produce tomatoes) if the weather turns too hot.
I expect we still have a few more weeks before I absolutely, positively have to have the cool blowing 24 hours to live in the house.
Energy Therapies

April 15th, 2010 >> EFT, Energy, Meridian Tapping, Spirituality, Vibration
EFT or Meridian Tapping is just one form of energy therapy. There are so many things out there. I have “run meridians”, flushing them out then smoothing them back down. Then there is Reiki which my husband knows and even my 16 year old son will run energy through his hands for people. There is also TAT that was developed by Tapas Fleming. I have used this on occasion; it is helpful when someone is stuck and not sure where to go from there.
I am constantly finding new things that people are using or have developed. I learned a new one this weekend while listening to an interview with Yvonne Oswald. I will have to try it in my workshop this Saturday. I have always noted how there is a lot of truth in many of our saying we use. Yvonne mentioned one about “keep your chin up”. I know you have heard that expression. She said it is impossible to feel a negative emotion if you point your chin up. Try it yourself right now. Think of something negative, actually feel the emotion. Note where it resides in the body. Now look up. Point your chin to the ceiling. With your chin pointed up, can you still feel the emotion? Isn’t that neat!
There are so many wonders out there and so many more to be discovered. These are exciting times to be living in. I love to be connecting with spiritual and universal power through all these techniques.
Last week I had a hawk story, this week it is raccoons, those little bandits.
My first up-close and personal experience with a raccoon was when I was living in an apartment in San Antonio. I came home one evening; the sun was low in the sky but had not set yet. I found my neighbor, Mark, in front of the apartment building, on all fours messing around in the leaves under the trees. I stopped to ask what he was doing. He said “I’m teaching this raccoon to hunt for acorns and roots.” Then I saw the young raccoon close to him.
Apparently a few months before he had been on his way back home from College Station and saw a raccoon on the side of the road that had been killed by a car. There were five little raccoons around her body. He stopped and picked up the babies and brought them home. (I am sure the apartment owners did not know about this). He took care of them and raised them, teaching them to hunt and when they started getting mean he knew it was time to set them free. He took them out into the country and let them go. They all scurried off but one came back. The one he had outside that evening had not been ready to leave, so he was working with this one a little longer.
Mark said it was interesting living with raccoons as nothing was safe. They could get out of cages as they had little hands and if they had enough weight behind them they could get the refrigerator door open. This raccoon was soon ready for the wild and I never saw the raccoon again.
Have we gotten too busy? It is almost like we are living several lives in our one life of 70 or 80 years.
With divorce and remarriage we enter new relationships. Each relationship is there to teach us something. Sometimes it is the same lesson over and over until we finally get it or give up. Sometimes each relationship is totally different from the previous one. Our relationships are often our greatest spiritual growth tool while we are on this plane. Just 100 or 200 years ago, divorce was rare and someone was looked upon as defective if they left their spouse. That one relationship was meant to last a lifetime, until death do us part.
The same can be said about careers. People have no lifelong attachment to their employer mainly because the employer has no lifelong commitment to the employees. A hundred years ago, this was different, but now not only do we change jobs every few years but we also change careers every 5 – 10 years. Are you doing the same thing you were 10 years ago? Are you in the same line of work? Is it drastically different? Often it is. We can live several lives in one lifetime just by drastic changes in our career. This was unheard of 100 – 200 years ago.
What about where you live? I have heard the average American moves every 3 years! It may be next door or it may be across the nation or even internationally. Years ago people tended to live and die in the same town they were born in. I am amazed nowadays when I run into someone who has never been out of state or has always lived in the same town. I think that most American came from adventurous stock. We came here from other countries; seeking adventure, seeking a new way of life, looking for something we could not describe while our more sedate neighbors stayed rooted in the homeland. Therefore Americans do tend to move around more even today. We are not afraid of adventure, heck we often seek it! So we move. Pioneers moved west seeking a better life. Even today we move seeking a new and better place.
What kind of changes have been going on in your life in the last decade?

Understanding Your Life Thru Color – Book Review
Posted by: Ann
In Understanding your life thru color: Metaphysical concepts in color and aura by Nancy Ann, the author tells about being raised by her psychic grandmother. Nancy Ann also had psychic traits and could see auras and like her grandmother could see the fairies that inhabited the area. She was startled to learn that everyone did not see the same things she and her grandmother were able to see. Most of the book is about color; the metaphysical concept of color, what different colors in the aura mean, the use of color therapy and health. I loved reading about the different aura colors and thinking of people who fit the different characteristics. Even though I have never learned to see auras, I was able to decide that my color was magenta due to the description. Reading about magenta also provided explanation as to why I acted the way I did. I was able to see how I had interpreted my parent’s actions through the magenta aura. I had put a twist on their actions that they had never intended (is this what messes up so many childhoods?)! I still get a kick out of reading the book and the descriptions. I was so impressed with the book that I wrote Nancy Ann (who was a very old lady at the time) a thank you letter for writing the book. If you read this book, you may also feel like writing a thank you letter. This book is currently out of print but you can buy it through a reseller.
Here I go again, stifling the flow of life, that energetic flow that brings all things to us. I can actually feel the block. It is in my Solar Plexus and shoulders. It feels like I am straining against something, I’m surprised I am not sore from the work and it is work to resist it. Why do I do this? Do you? Can you feel the flow of life energy?
Life is trying to give me all kinds of good things and I am trying hard to resist. I have been very frustrated. I have been asking for help from my guides and today I listened to an interview with Yvonne Oswald on The Aware Show. That really helped!
Yvonne Oswald led us through some methods to clear the negative emotions clearly and it helped me tremendously. You don’t even have to know the cause of the emotion. All the interviews on The Aware Show have been great. There is only 1 month left of interviews but you can still register for them and hear the remaining interviews for free and if you wish you can buy the whole set for a low price. EFT for Pain Relief
Posted by: Ann
April 9th, 2010 >> EFT, Life, Meridian Tapping, Physical/Material
Yesterday I was at the Belton Senior Center to demonstrate the use of EFT for pain management. I had a person who had gone through a number of different diagnoses for his stiff, pointing fingers. It had been diagnosed by different doctors as degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and a form of gout. Doctors love to label things. If they can give it a name they can prescribe a medication. In his case the prescription was over-the-counter pain killers.
My usual mode of operation is to ask when the pain first started. In his case it was about six months before he retired. Bingo! Pain associated with getting old. I did a number of EFT rounds and the pain went from a 6 to a 4 to a 2 to a 1 and then 0. This told me that the pain was all emotionally based.
So many of our pains are caused by our emotions. We store our emotions in our bodies. Our body is shouting at us when we have pains and it shouts louder and louder until we cannot ignore it. Even medication starts to lose its effectiveness and you will find yourself taking more and stronger medications trying to smother the pain.
Doctors carry a lot of weight and authority. Often there is a lot of emotion attached to what a doctor tells you. When I see this man in two weeks and if his pain has returned we will address that and also that his dad had stiff fingers.
You can schedule a session with me for your pains. Go to www.naturallyresilient.com and sign up for a session or send me a comment to find out more.
Last Monday I wrote about nutrition. I wish to pick up that theme again. The body knows what it needs. If you pay attention really listen or feel. There have been times I was hungry and my first inclination would be to eat a cookie. But then I really thought about it and felt my body and imagined what it would feel like after eating the cookie. Then I knew I would still be hungry or maybe even feel a little yucky afterwards. I would then go through my pantry and refrigerator and ask myself do I want crackers, some cereal or an apple? Then I would see the V-8 and get an ah-ha that is it. I am not always so vegetable/fruit conscious sometime I really feel that I need a Coke.
Consistently craving something is different. Often we crave what will make us sick. There are emotional reasons behind cravings. Sometimes we are in an unconscious punishment phase and we crave the things that will backfire on us. We see the food as a way of reinforcing such thoughts as “I’m not good enough” or “I’m not worth feeling healthy”. Some times we use certain foods to make us feel good because those were foods that were served during good times or special occasions when we were little: cake at birthdays, pies at family reunions, fried chicken at Sunday afternoon get-togethers.
Note the reason certain foods are comfort foods for you. It will be easier to lose weight if you know why you eat what you do.
The grass and weeds would get tall on our 68 acres in central Texas. We bought an old 15 foot bat wing shredder to pull behind the tractor to keep the weeds knocked down. This is the kind with a wing on each side that will fold up if the hydraulics are working right.
I enjoyed shredding the field. It was a time of reflection in the quiet solitude of the tractor roar. The tractor was pretty loud, loud enough to alert the hawk who resided in the area. When the tractor started up, I would soon see the hawk making lazy circles above me in the sky. He knew that dinner was soon to be served. The noise of the tractor and the shredder would send the mice and rabbits scurrying for cover and when the hawk saw them he would swoop down and try to catch one.
I would always start at the outer edge and work inwards toward the middle. The small rodents would always run toward the taller grass not realizing that the patch was getting small with each pass of the tractor. One day while shredding, the hawk had dived down to try and catch something and was on the ground about 40 feet from the tractor which was now making its pass on the other side of the tall grass. As the mower got closer to the perpendicular where the hawk was, the tall grass started shaking like a critter was running away from the tractor. Then there was a squawk and flapping where the hawk was. As the tractor came close to the hawk on the second pass I could guess what had happened. A rabbit had run right into the hawk who was sitting on the ground looking rather surprised with the free meal in his talons. No wonder he always came out when he heard the tractor.
