The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is one of those books you can’t just check out of the library to read: you have to buy it. I am not saying the library won’t have it or the book will always be checked out. No, the reason you must have your own copy is because you will want to underline, highlight and jot notes in it.

This is a book my husband said I had to read. I like reading books after he has because he has already underlined and made notes and I get to see what he thought was important. We tend to underline different things.  I also love the deep conversations we have when discussing such a book and this book lends itself to deep conversations.

Tolle delves into the life force, energies, moving beyond your self, the observer, manifesting, the ego and many more esoteric areas. It is presented in a question and answer format where an “average” person is asking questions, some of which I could relate to, others I had already moved past but I was still interested in Tolle’s answers.  The author brings depth and understanding with examples and also practical meditations and other practices to use to raise your vibration and energy awareness.

After reading this book, my husband discovered another book by Eckhart Tolle and immediately bought it and is reading it. This is another one he says I must read.

I was introduced to Eckhart Tolle through a video that was included on one of the DVD’s we received through a subscription to The Spiritual Cinema Circle. The video was “Living Luminaries (On the Serious Business of Happiness)”. I had heard of Eckhart Tolle’s book “The Power of Now”, but didn’t know much about him or his book. I was totally amazed and impressed with Eckhart Tolle in the video, and immediately bought and read “The Power of Now”. I consider the book to be a pivotal work, a “Required Reading”. The “Living Luminaries” video is available on its own, see the link at right. Recently his new book “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose (Oprah’s Book Club, Selection 61)” came out. I’d been intending to get it too, when I found a copy of it in our church’s garage sale — naturally I snapped it up. I’ve read it and of course told Ann she has to read is book, too.
