The Advancement of the Human Race

February 23rd, 2010 >> Change, Life, Reincarnation, Spirituality

I have been thinking about the spiritual growth of humanity. Are we really growing and improving? After watching the evening news I am inclined to say not.

However the news shows what is unusual so if something shows up on the news that means it is out of the ordinary or does not normally happen. In other words, since the news always seems to show the bad of humanity that implies that the good is normal and commonplace. This gives me hope, maybe we are truly growing and improving.

I also have another way of looking at humanity through the ages. I believe in reincarnation. Each of us has lived multiple lives. There are certain experiences we all have gone through or will go through. These experiences lead to the growth of the soul and ultimately the growth of humanity. Such experiences are:
• We have all died in war
• We all are attacked
• We have all been attackers
• We have starved to death
• We have abused power
• We have all been abused

If we had no conflict or hardships we would be comfortable where we are and would have no reason to change or grow. Comfort means the status quo and there is no change. When we are challenged we have to develop new reasons, new beliefs and new ideologies so we can once more be comfortable in mind and then comfortable in body. Sometimes we have to go through a traumatic event in a series of lives. Each life is trying to work it out, or come to terms with what is happening. When we finally decide how to deal with it and can incorporate it into our soul we can move on to something else.

Each of these major events in our lives has left an imprint on our soul. We have changed, we have grown. This can only lead to a change in humanity as a whole. We can even look back through recorded history and see how our ideas and beliefs have changed and how we have grown. I have hope that soon we all will have experienced war enough to decide we don’t need it any more.

Lent

February 22nd, 2010 >> God, Life

I was raised Southern Baptist and never knew much about Lent. To me it was something weird the Catholics down the street did. Then when I was on my own, I joined the Methodist Church: it seemed to fit my beliefs better. All of a sudden I was confronted with all of these terms that I had always associated with Catholics, one of which was Lent.

Every year I would hear discussions of what some one was giving up for Lent. I always thought it was strange. Why would I give something up? I was struggling as it was, trying to believe that God wanted us to live in abundance!
Here is my train of thought. God is all powerful (check, I have always believed that). God is all knowing (check again). God is abundance (not as strong of a check, but hey I’ll go with it). God wants us to live in abundance (ok, this is where the struggle begins).

I have come a long way from when I thought that God wanted us to give everything away and live under a bridge but it was still a struggle. I knew that giving anything up for Lent would just set me back in my struggle. To me giving anything up was more of a slap in the face of God than a honoring of God. How do you feel when you try to give something to someone and they won’t take it? Think about the last time you gave someone a compliment and instead of saying ‘thank you’ they negated it by not accepting it or by making light of it. How did that make you feel? Did you want to give them another compliment any time soon? I am not saying that God has human emotions and motives but that is what I have to work with.

This year I am looking at it a little different. I am going to honor God and myself by giving something up. The reason this is going to honor God and myself is because I do not need this and it is really hurting me in the long run. What I am giving up is Excedrin!

You were expecting something a little grander weren’t you?

I admit, I am addicted to Excedrin and I know that many of the daily headaches I get are Excedrin induced. I got addicted to it when I was in college (30 years ago) and came home with a bad headache and tried Excedrin and was amazed that my headache was actually gone in 20 minutes! Nothing ever took my headaches away before! Then every time I started to get a light headache I would take an Excedrin because I was afraid the headache would grow into a migraine if I did not do something.

Every once in a while I will get off the Excedrin then a migraine would occur and I couldn’t stand it and would take an Excedrin and finally get rid of it. But then I would be back on taking Excedrin everyday.

This time will be the longest stretch that I would have given Excedrin up (that is if I make it). I survived without Excedrin before I can survive without it again. I have a headache.

Moments Of Grace

February 21st, 2010 >> Books, God, Life, Physical/Material, Spirituality

It’s book review Sunday!

This is a book I have read several times. Every once in a while I need a pick-me-up and this book is the ticket. Neale Donald Walsch the author of Conversations with God did a great job with Moments of Grace: When God Touches Our Lives Unexpectedly
. Actually he did very little writing in this book, he is relaying stories others sent him about their personal experiences.
In Neale’s own words “This book is about moments in our lives when God steps in and gives us a great big hug….. These are stories about real life and real people. Folks sent them to me. Because I asked them to. I wanted to know if my experience of God was really so different from everyone else’s, or if, as I suspected, we all are having pretty much the same experience, but I’m the only one who’s talking about it. Or one of the very few.”

I have read stories out of this book to people who come to me questioning the meaning of life and those who wonder if miracles happen. I also tell them a few of my own stories. Yes there is purpose to all this! Yes there is a guiding light or energy out there!

If you don’t want to buy it, at least check it out of the library. But I bet you will want to own it after you read it.

Manifesting – Put Energy Into It

Posted by: Ann

February 20th, 2010 >> Energy, Manifesting, Physical/Material

Thursday I wrote about the energy flowing through life. I wanted to touch on that again today.

My husband often says he puts energy into things to make something happen. There may be a piece of equipment that is acting up and he will give his magic touch and ‘presto’ it will start to work! We call it the “Midas Touch”.

My son has that touch. When he was 4 we were visiting friends. Jesse and Teresa, their 4 year old were playing in her room when we heard discord. Teresa’s mom and I went to investigate. The girl had a broken tape recorder and Jesse was fiddling with it. Teresa kept telling him to leave it alone that it was broken. Becky, the mother, told me it had been broken for a while. Jesse would not leave it alone. Then he pressed a button and it started to play! Teresa and her mom were shocked.

Other times there maybe something that my husband wants to accomplish. He will set a goal and “put energy into it” and it will happen. About a year ago he decided he would make $20,000 in one month. His usual take was about $8,000 to $12,000. He made the $20,000 but it was not in the way he was expecting. When I ask him how he does these things he just says, “I put energy into it”. He then tries to get me to put energy into what I do, but I don’t have a clue as to what he is talking about.

I think I may now have a clue.

What is going on? I believe he is using the flow of life energy and like a river he is diverting the flow to where he wants it. That flow carries what he wants to him.

EFT vs. Meridian Therapies

Posted by: Ann

February 19th, 2010 >> EFT, Energy, Meridian Tapping, Physical/Material, Vibration

I had an interesting client last Sunday. This one was suppose to be an EFT session for back pain. I often have great results using EFT for back pain. We tend to carry a lot of emotional baggage in our backs. EFT is great at getting rid of the emotional baggage. I often start with addressing the pain itself and when movement starts to slow or ceases I will delve deeper to try and uncover emotional reasons for the pain. Often addressing the pain itself is all that is required.

I did get some movement addressing the pain itself. It went from an intensity of 6 to a 4 but then it seemed to stall. I probed for emotional reasons and soon found several possibilities. But addressing each of these were not getting the results I thought we should be seeing. She then told me that the tapping on the side of her hand (the KC point, see my page on Tapping Points) was sending tingles down her body .

I started tapping on various other points and asking if she felt energy with them. I found that the points corresponding to the small intestine and the triple warmer points created sensations. I decided to clear and trace the corresponding meridians.

After finishing her right side, she said the right side was feeling good and all the pain was now on her left side. So I ran the meridians on her left side.
She was feeling pretty good after that. She could do some of her yoga positions that she could not do when she came in. I thought it was interesting that flushing and tracing the meridians cleared the pain.

Manifesting With the Flow of Energy

February 18th, 2010 >> Energy, Life, Manifesting

Tuesday I wrote about going with the ups and downs of life and letting them happen. There is another aspect of this that I wanted to discuss.

Life is an energetic force. Everything has energy. This energy is not static in things where it sits, making itself at home, rather it is actually a flow. This energy flows through all things, connecting all things. The flow of this energy is what allows manifesting.

If the energy is flowing in your life, you are connected to all things and what you want will flow to you through this river of energy. The inability to manifest is due to a blockage or stoppage of the flow.

When I learned this, I started feeling for the energy. Yes I could feel it and yes I was blocking the flow. It has been hard to unblock that flow. I keep practicing and the more I can feel it flowing the easier (I hope) it will get. I believe many of us block the flow. I have heard that the life force energy of humanity in general is very low and I believe this is because we are blocking our flow.

Check in with yourself. Can you feel the energy flowing?

To be able to feel the river of energy flowing a person needs to feel safe and loved. This is a hard one. Even though we do not have to contend with saber-tooth lions or warring clansmen we do have to contend with next months bills and personal relationships that have gone awry. Worries and fears can stop the flow. If your flow is blocked there is hope.

To unstop the flow and get the river flowing, practice living in the present. At this moment, are you safe? Feel it! Feel the love in the moment. The next step is to acknowledge that life is good. Again be in the moment and feel it! The third step is to know that good things are coming your way. And then watch for good things to show up.

Practice this several times a day. I will be working on this myself.

Natural Abilities

February 17th, 2010 >> Animals, Cat

Callie was an agile, medium sized cat. Barney was a LARGE 18 pounder all bone and muscle and very clumsy. Barney would try and keep up with Callie. I think Callie deliberately lured Barney into places he could not get out of easily. Callie would get on the fence and jump onto the roof. Barney would follow her. Callie would jump down from the fence. Barney would be stuck.

There were a number of times I had to pull Barney off of the roof. I finally decided that Barney had to learn how to get off the roof himself. If he was going to climb up there he could get down just like Callie did. There were a couple of times that Barney came into the house limping after jumping down and I would pull out the hot pad and he would lay his sore back legs on it.

Callie would also jump up on the fireplace mantle walking in and out of the objects up there. Sometimes Barney would follow her and either knock stuff over or manage to fall off himself.

Barney finally came to terms with what he could and could not do. He realized that there were some things that he just could not do.

The lesson from Barney is that we often have to come to terms about our limits. Why do we keep trying to do things that we are not good at when there are many things we are good at. Barney was a great people cat. He loved meeting people and people loved him. Barney exuded personality. If he were a person I would give him a job in public relations or entertainment.

What are your strengths? Are you spending too much time in an area for which you have no natural ability?

Go With The Flow – of Life

February 16th, 2010 >> Energy, Life, Truth

I have heard that if an idea comes to you from three different sources it is spirit trying to show you a truth. I have had the same basic idea come to me by three methods last week. One was through a teleseminar I was listening to; the second time was in a book I was reading. I was consciously waiting for the third time to show up because I felt it was coming. The third time came at church Sunday.

What was this idea? It has to do with the flow of energy or some might say the flow of life.

Life has ebbs and tides and you have to let it come and go. We often ‘buck the flow’. This is such a common thing that we have many sayings for it: kick against the pricks, ruffle his feathers, and rub the cat the wrong way. All are referring to life and trying to work against what is happening.

Life has its lows and its highs. We would all like to be on the high side as much as possible and that is why we try so hard to fight the lows. If we would realize that life is constantly changing the lows will not be so hard to handle. We need to learn to let go and ride with the flow of life. The lows will not last forever and neither will the highs.

Enjoy the highs while they are here but also realize the lows also will pass.
If we fight the lows when they appear, we end up prolonging them. It is almost like our lows have to reach their lowest point before our life can head back upwards. If we fight the lows, it takes a lot longer to get to the bottom of things and we end up suffering longer. Just remember that the lows are times for us to rest and take stock of where we are and where we are headed. Live the moment and feel the moment whether it is a high or a low and life will go smoother.

There is a whole other section on this flow that I will cover on Thursday.

Like vs Love

Posted by: Ann

February 15th, 2010 >> Life, Relationship

Think of someone significant in your life. Do you love them? Do you like them? Do you see the difference?
Most people can see that you can like some one without loving them but what about the other way around?
There have been times I have felt love but at the same time I felt I did not like that same person. What is going on? Is this the same thing that is going on when a woman will not leave an abusive relationship because she “loves” him? Maybe she loves him but she may not like him. I have heard a woman say this about their young child. This woman said she loved her child but for the last several days she did not like her.
I remember telling my son when he was very young that I loved him and then I stopped and said, “I even like you” because there is a difference and to truly accept someone you need both of the emotions.

Angels are Here to Help You

February 14th, 2010 >> Books, Change, Guides, Manifesting, Vibration

This Sunday’s book review is on Healing With The Angels
by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.

I have a copy of this book and I often pull it off my bookshelf to consult it. I have Post-it flags marking special pages through out the book.
Some of my flagged pages include:
Prayer to Archangel Michael for Increased Energy – Most of us can use that one.
Another page marks a prayer to the Angels for cravings for unhealthful foods and drinks.
How about a prayer for Increased business Opportunities,
Here is a good one, stress management. Not only do I have that page flagged but I also have some of it highlighted. My highlighted words of wisdom are “All pressure is self imposed” “Stress is of our own choosing” and further down the page is some good advice “…the importance of setting our intentions for the day, first thing in the morning. Decide, ‘What do I want today to be like’ and it will be done”(page 73)

But what I mainly use the book for is the Number Sequences from the Angels in Chapter 12.

One day I was in my kitchen feeling very mad and upset about how badly things were going, dwelling on the negative so to speak. I glanced at the clock on the stove it said 11:11, I looked at the Microwave, and it said 11:11. I decided to get Doreen’s book. The sequence of ones says to “Monitor your thoughts carefully, and be sure to only think about what you want, not what you don’t want. … The 111 is like the bright light of a flashbulb. It means that the universe has just taken a snapshot of your thoughts and is manifesting them into form. Are you pleased with what thoughts the universe has captured?” Boy I changed my thoughts right then, I did not want more of the negative in my life.

I’ll give one more example. Last February, I was going through a dark night of the soul episode. I was firmly rooted in a scarcity mentality and was about to throw in the towel on my own business dream and look for a low paying job. I just could not see how the bills would get paid for the next month. My husband gave me a pep talk and convinced me to work harder on my business. The next morning when I got up I weighed myself and the numbers showed back at me 122.2. I had never seen so many twos in a row; in fact I had not weighed that little before or since. So I decided to look in chapter 12 of this book.

Doreen says that three 2’s in a row means “Your newly planted ideas are beginning to grow into reality. Keep watering and nurturing them, and soon they will push through the soil so you can see evidence of your manifestation. In other words, don’t quit five minutes before the miracle. Your manifestation is soon going to be evident to you, so keep up the good work! Keep holding positive thoughts, keep affirming. And continue visualizing.” Wow, that was the positive reinforcement that I needed. I did have the best year that I have ever had with my business and things are still happening.

Recently I have been seeing fives in sequence. Waking in the middle of the night and seeing 5:55 on the clock, things like that. Doreen indicates that this means a major life change is upon me. This has me a little nervous (review my articles about change).

This is a very interesting and useful book for me and I think it will be for you too.
