It has been a week and a half since my Shingles started showing up. I have been taking a lot of IB and doing a lot of meridian tapping. Saturday and Sunday my system started rebelling about the IB so have cut back on that substantially and am actually feeling pretty good. The rash is looking a lot better and I even felt like going for a morning walk this morning.
I felt a shift in the pain yesterday morning when I started tapping for my skin. I wanted to send it love and support. It has been good to me and I have tried to take care of it. I thanked it for being such good skin for me and I was sorry that this virus was attacking my first line of defense. When my skin suffers I suffer. I felt some better after that and did not even need any pain medicine last night.
I really do think the tapping has helped me. I decided I don’t want this pain or this ailment and I don’t need it. That brings me to why do some people insist on holding onto their pain. When I told people I had shingles, they were very sympathetic and would tell me about some they knew who had shingles several years ago and still had the pain from it. Why were these people still holding on to the energy of pain?
I work with people, helping them let go of their pain. But some people want to hold on to the misery, the pain. Why? What do they gain? Attention that they wouldn’t get otherwise? Pity? But the pain inhibits you in living your life to the fullest.
Sometimes we need to just sit back and watch the world go by. My dad loved doing that. He was a people watcher. He loved to go to the mall and just sit and watch the people. Sometimes he would sit in the garage and watch the people going up and down the road.
My husband and I go walking in the mornings and there is often some one sitting on their front porch or in their garage watching the world go by. We always say “Hi” to them and if we are too slow with our greeting they will yell out “Good Morning” to us.
This gives a person a relaxing start to the day. It is a reassurance that the sun also rises, that life goes on.
I know about the “Law of Attraction”. I have seen “The Secret”. I just seem to be having trouble implementing this.
Something has been coming across my “desk” lately that is screaming at me about how to modify my thinking. When something keeps cropping up, I have learned that I need to pay attention to it.
Several different webinars and seminars I have heard lately have pointed me to the same thing. In fact this is the same thing I use to practice when I was young. What is this “thing”?
As the law of attraction says, what you think you attract. It is often hard to think positively when everything around you seems to be falling down on you. These lectures have reminded me that I use to create a desirable outcome by imagining all the ways something could happen.
For example, when I lost my ring as a teenager, I imagined all the ways it would be found and returned to me. It was found and returned but in a manner that I had not imagined.
That happened many times and I always thought God had a sense of humor, as the method was always one I had not expected.
I have decided to go back to that tactic. I have a good imagination. If I can imagine dire thing happening, I can imagine great things happening.
Will you try this with me? Let me know if anything good and unexpected happens in your life.
Every one probably has a different idea of what meditation is and how to do it. Some people say to concentrate on your breathing. I never had much luck with that. When I concentrate on my breathing nothing else comes to me but breathing.
I see meditating as a way to relax and access my inner guidance. To do that I have a routine which starts with sitting comfortably. I will lead you through this routine.
Do not lie down as you may fall asleep. If you are too jittery, use EFT to help you relax. Then with eyes closed, envision yourself walking slowly down a spiral staircase. With each step breathe out and with each breath release some tension and relax a little bit more. (So I do use breathing in my meditation!). When you get to the bottom of the stairs, you will find yourself in a large room. Walk around your room a little and see what is there.
On one wall will be a door. Go to the door. This will be the door into your private sanctuary. Make this place a welcoming, safe, beautiful place that you want to go to. Open the door and go in. Enjoy this area. It is your creation. This is where you can meet with someone or something that will answer your questions about life, the universe and everything. I have a wise old man I talk with. Ask questions and wait for answers.
Some people say you are accessing your spiritual guides, a saint, God, Jesus, or just your inner intuition. No matter who it is, it is relaxing and often very helpful. Thank them for being there for you and when you open your eyes you will feel more relaxed and blissful.
Yesterday I asked how to keep your negative emotions from causing physical problems when you don’t even know you are having negative emotions.
I think one of the major preventative modalities may be a daily meditation. I usually do a morning meditation but sometimes it is not convenient. I was traveling in Arizona the first week in November returning home on the 8th late at night. There was only one day I did any meditation while on the road. I started having various health issues the Sunday I returned and the suspected shingles showed up on Friday.
Would the illness not have shown up if I had been meditating? I don’t know for sure but whenever I don’t meditate for a week, I have a hard time getting back in the swing of meditating. That relaxed state of being is sometimes elusive and I have to have several days of trying for it before I succeed.
Why would meditating help? It provides a centering, a space of time of being in the now or being totally present. I think that is like providing an uncluttered place in your thoughts and emotions. It is like a clean house. When the house is clean you feel more relaxed (at least if you are a women). Meditating provides that house cleaning that allows you to relax and be more settled in the turmoil that may be raging around you.
How do you meditate? I’ll cover that tomorrow.
I took a day off Monday. That was my self-pity day.
I went to the doctor and confirmed what I suspected. I have shingles. I have not been to a “real” doctor in 6 years. Most of my complaints have been handled by using EFT, NAET or some other form of energy medicine. But reading about the shingles online scared me into making an appointment.
I am glad I went. There are some medicines that can make the virus more manageable and between that and using my energy modalities, I expect to have an easier time of it. In fact I am feeling much better this morning.
In looking up Shingles in “Feelings Buried Alive Never Die…” book it says the underlying emotions are: Fear that things won’t work out the way we want, Being over-sensitive, On-going tension concerning a situation and Hostile energy being manifest. What is insidious is that I don’t feel any of these, at least not to the extent that my skin would break out in this virus. But then again that is why it came out in another form. If you have an emotion that is so buried that you don’t know it is there, it will eventually come out in some form.
So how do you keep your body at peace? How do you stem these emotional outburst before they cause physical damage? I’ll think about that tomorrow.
The world is not perfect. I guess that is nothing new. But do we really want a perfect world?
What would a perfect world look like? No conflict, no challenges, nothing to overcome. Just the right temperature, good food for all, whatever kind of housing you with to live in. Would this be heaven or hell?
I remember a “Twilight Zone” show where a gangster type died and found himself in a big casino where he could never loose. At first he was in “heaven” but all the wine, women and constant winning started getting to him. He was more than bored, no challenge, he wanted out. It finally dawned on him that he was not in heaven but in hell.
We need the challenge, the adversity. That is why we come to this plane: to experience something we cannot get on the other side in the spiritual realm. So rejoice in your challenges, say thank you to those who throw roadblocks at you, they are helping to strengthen you in a way you could never do on your own.
Yesterday I mentioned the “Fruits of the Spirit”: Love, Joy, Hope, and Peace. These are innate to you. They are who you really are. We bring the negativity onto ourselves and insist on carrying that burden, but that is not who we are.
When you do Meridian Tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) you release the negative emotions, they seem to disappear, but the positive ones are not affected.
The body has an energy system called the meridian that runs through it. The negative baggage tends to clog the lines. Just like putting pressure to a clogged drain line with a plunger will unclog a drain, putting extra energy into the energy system of the body will help unclog the meridian.
What is so bad about a clogged meridian? The way I see it is that the fears, anger, worry, regrets, jealousy and all the other negativity we have clog the lines and when the lines clog we can get sick or sometimes just get more build up of fears, anger, worry, regrets etc. So if your life seems to be dominated by a specific negative emotion, you may have a blockage and build up going on. Do some tapping to help relieve the problem.

Yesterday’s post told a little about relieving pain with a tapping technique I use.
Why does tapping work?
The way I see it is that we are born into this world with the “fruits of the spirit” – Love, Joy, Hope, Peace. But as soon as we are born we start tacking on the baggage, the negative emotions. Sometimes these emotions can lead to physical pain or disease.
Think about the word disease. It is when the body is not at ease or is at dis-ease.
A negative event that is constantly in the foreground of your mind causes you discomfort (you are not at ease). This is like the thorn in the finger that irritates and finally causes an infection. It needs to be dealt with and extracted. The longer you try to ignore it the more your body will try and tell you it is there in even louder ways until you finally take notice. Sometimes this louder voice the body uses is pain or even a serious disease like cancer.
Tomorrow I will tell you my version of why the tapping relieves the negative emotions.

Last week I attended a Live Out Loud Alumni meeting in Phoenix AZ. While there I meet a man who was hobbling around with back pain. He could not walk more than 20 feet before his back started hurting. He told me that it had started when he was 13 and his little brother had jumped on him while he was laying on an inner tube. I thought “Ah-Ha” a definite emotional event leading to a physical pain.
I told him I believed I could help him. He was skeptical as most people are, but was willing to give it a try. He had this pain for 40 years, but length of time is of no concern for what I do.
The meridian tapping technique I use is based on EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). We sat down and talked about the events that lead to the back pain while I tapped on various acupressure points. We discussed forgiving his little brother and himself in this matter. Before we started this pain was an 8 on a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 is no pain and 10 is the worst it could be, After a few rounds I asked how he felt and he said it always felt worst when he stood, so I had him stand. As he stood up his face had a very surprised look on it. Then he said he had been sitting for a while and his back always felt better after he sat but walking always aggravated it. (People usually try to make excuses as to why they feel better.) I asked him to walk around. His wife watched him as he walked and told me that much walking always made his back hurt. When he returned he agreed with surprise, that his back felt much better.
I checked with him the next day and he said he had some initial pain when getting out of bed but was fine now. His wife was very grateful and gave me a big hug and thank you.
